Here's what I like most about Congressman Duncan Hunter: Tom Tancredo has had kind words for him, and Hunter talks in depth about three key issues which should be central to the current political debate.
1) Fighting the war on terror:
Our national intelligence and defense communities must be provided with the tools necessary to identify, track, stop and prosecute terrorists before they have the opportunity to strike. The fact that America has not been attacked since September 11th indicates to me that we are on the right course. I am confident we can remain on that course by providing our intelligence agencies with the resources they need while, at the same time, maintaining our commitment to the continued protection of our civil rights.
2) Keeping American Industry and Jobs in the U.S.
American workers are the most productive and innovative labor force in the world. Unfortunately, they are asked to compete in an unfair environment against other workers who make only a fraction of a living wage and are employed by companies that face few, if any, responsibilities to the environment or the long-term prospects of their employees. Our domestic manufacturers are forced to compete against foreign companies that benefit from their country's currency and regulatory regimes. Ominously, China is cheating on trade and using billions of American trade dollars to build ships, planes and missiles at an alarming rate while, at the same time, taking millions of American jobs.
3) Securing Our Borders
I know fencing helps secure our nation's borders because criminal activity in every statistical category has been eliminated or decreased since we built the border fence in San Diego County. What was once a porous border, susceptible to illegal aliens, drug trafficking and terrorism, is now the standard mode in preventing drug smugglers from bringing narcotics into our neighborhoods and allowing border enforcement personnel to reinforce areas of greater need. These results led me to write the Secure Fence Act, extending the San Diego fence 854 miles across California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
Besides being right on the biggest issues of the day, Duncan Hunter is noteworthy for his integrity. He is not promoting a laundry list of solutions to every problem we face, and he is not wrapping himself in the cloak of past political heroes (i.e. Ronald Reagan) to justify his political stance. He is not dealing out the same tired hand as every other Republican regarding the failures of the GOP majority and the true meaning of "conservative." Listening to him, you get the impression he does not need to spell this stuff out.
If you listen to Duncan Hunter speak, you will come away with the impression that he is his own man.
He appeared on both CNN and MSNBC on wednesday night and on Fox on Thursday.

and buy a T-shirt. The profit goes to the campaign, and you could wear the T-shirt to places where you often go. Folks would see the T-shirt. Some would ask about it, and the overall effect would be to build name recognition for Mr. Hunter.
I'm still undecided but leaning strongly towards Mr. Hunter. I already have some campaign buttons and put one on a bag that I carry to work.
Bill
Might be the same people who can't tell you who the Vice Pres. is
You are right on all counts. This highly principled man has a fine concept of the issues, inluding that government should be limited. Thank you for the thread. You did good! :o)
True, and he's going to have to show a lot more backbone for me. I would like to support his talking points of a conservative agenda, but I want a hero. I want someone who will buck the system and stand up for us. Not just with words, but with action.
Definitely the made in the USA fitted T for me.
E-mail Hannity and Colmes to ask that Duncan Hunter's name be included in their Republican president candidate poll - http://hannity.com/index/contact-form. Bill O'Reilly is also running a poll with only four candidates, also omitting Hunter - o'reilly@foxnews.com. Ask for either a write in slot, or that Duncan Hunter's name also be listed.
I don't have the right build for a fitted T-shirt. I'll have to go with one of the others.
Probably the same libs from NY. GOP's and Dems alike. I'm sickened by the amount of anti-conservatism here on FR now. Everybody jumping on the liberal bandwagon saying a conservative can't get elected. Duh! Glad your not one of them.
At this point, I'd rather put Jim Robinson in the poll. At least he showed up in DC with the GOE. Where was Duncan?
Well said. Bump.
Why are you trolling on this thread?

Q: Will Duncan Hunter make an appearance at the Gathering of Eagles this weekend?
Sam: I was told that we will definitely have our people there to represent us, and that dad is going to make a strong effort to get there as well.

I would love to vote for a conservative. Hunter was my first choice. However, I'm going to need more from him than I'm seeing lately. If he had showed up at the GOE, it would have been no contest for me. Why was he not there?
Somebody has an agenda.
three key issues
1) Bump!
2) Bump!
3) Bump!

Duncan Hunter 2008!
OK, did he make it? Who were his peeps? I can understand that the MSM wouldn't cover this. Was anyone there aware of Duncan Hunter reps supporting the GOE? I'll be glad to rethink my support for Hunter if anyone can confirm this.
"He's been on Fox this week, MSNBC, Glenn Beck and Dobbs and Blitzer on CNN, among others."
I heard him on Laura Ingraham and "Brien and the Judge", and Hannity said he would have him on.
Whenever I hear him he does a great job, and sounds and IS very presidential.
Who are you a shill for, and did they attend?
