Congresswoman Candice Miller Announces Support For Giuliani
Michigan Congresswoman Candice Miller (R-MI) announced her support for Mayor Rudy Giuliani to be the next President of the United States. Congresswoman Miller will speak about her endorsement this weekend during a speech to the Michigan GOP convention.
In announcing her endorsement Miller said Rudy Giuliani is the candidate ready to lead America.
When deciding what candidate I wanted to be our next President of the United States I knew we needed someone who would continue the fight against terrorism, who has proven leadership and who has the record and experience of managing government and improving the economy, Congresswoman Miller said. Again and again on the most important issues facing America I came to the same conclusion, that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is the man we need to lead our nation.
Congresswoman Miller sits on the House Armed Services Committee and was previously the Michigan Secretary of State.

The latest news from ... five weeks ago.
(I was picking on an anti-Rudy post yesterday for posting old stuff. This is a pro-Rudy post and it bothers me for the same reason. YES, all the posts are relevant: endorsements, track record, character ... They just aren't as much like "news" as is an item first published TODAY.)

Here is what Rudy supports:
"But he said the idea doesnt go far enough, and urged that owning a handgun be subject to the same scrutiny as operating a car: applicants should pass a written and a physical test, should be subject to a waiting period and a background check, and should be required to have liability insurance."
Jim Crow gun laws do not fly with me one darn bit.

It really doesn't make a lot of sense unless she's just doing the partisan thing. After all she has pushed to get illegals disqualified from census counts due to the fact that they're changing congressional districts by their mere presence.

Well, the whiskers fashion [the leftmost guy in the photo] is news, the date notwithstanding. I don't remember ever seeing anything even remotely similar.

It costs her nothing to endorse Rudy.
My tag line is how I look at the GOP, Rudy has staked clearcut positions, he and his supporters should explain what they mean or how they intend on implementing them and "why" Rudy should be trusted to protect and champion the issues that many have fought very long and hard for.

I'm pretty irritated with the way the front runners from both parties seem to be trying to outlast the secondary candidates who will bring some tough questions into the debates.
A willingness to face those tough questions would say a lot about their ability to lead in my eyes.

Naturally the liberal losers who control the Republican Party are going to do their best to anoint a chosen one and do all the arm twisting necessary to force the rank and file in line.

Miller's endorsement would have meant a lot more if she were our new Governor. Many of us Great Lakers are still fuming over the re-election of socialist canuck Granholm and fat cow senator StabUsAll - Miller seemed to many as one with statewide name recognition could have beaten Marxists Jenny or Debbie.
Oh well.

Would you at least acknowledge that licensing in a city like New York makes some sense -- with it's large population of immigrant groups (legal and illegal), from hundreds of different countries, many of these countries with no history or tradition of liberty.
Without some controls, a no questions asked policy giving easy access to guns in this environment would be a horror.

Rudy went beyond just licensing, he went straight to treating a civil right no differently than one would treat automobile.
Prohibitve firearm laws don't work, criminals will break the law and law abiding people then become their targets.
If NYC is that bad, then change the regulations to "shall issue" for CCW's, and drop the nonsensical "license, registration, and insurance" crapola and *gasp* trust law abiding citizens to exercise their rights.
A cabbie with a pistol under their seat is not exactly a public menace, yet they are treated the same as a crack dealer with an uzi, that is nuts.
