Just a heads up. Anarchist and communist groups plan to spray paint the Vietnam wall and the Pentagon.
From a far left website:
"Anti-authoritarian bloc on the 17th? Author: A Date Created: 06 Mar 2007
About the demo on March 17th:
People who are planning a black bloc, youth bloc, SDS bloc or something like that should announce it so more than 10 people can join in and make it worthwhile.

They should immediately deploy cops with "shoot to kill" orders if anyone as much gets one drop of paint on them.

Funny thing. France just outlawed that very thing.

I saw that...although wasn't it taping "violence" that was outlawed? Sad thing is that in France one is guilty until proved innocent...and since taping violence is illegal one can no longer obtain video proof of innocence in France.
Just another step is the decline and fall of France.

These posts on indymedia are pure bluster. The US Park Police won't have Pelosi running interference for vandals.

Video won't matter, based on personal experience. We could have video of somebody assaulting one of our people (I did) and the DC police would do nothing (they did nothing), saying that the person videotaping (me) was too close to the protesters who repeatedly struck their target (me). I told that MPDC officer, and his superior (Lieutenant Michael Farrish) that should I ever be attacked again while I am in their jurisdiction, I will not depend on them as they always insist we do, but will defend myself using all means at my disposal.
I have zero faith in the DC police doing anything to stop or to arrest any vandals or other violent peace rioters. My faith in the US Park police is only slightly higher. Maybe they will prove me wrong.
That said, we should still take photos and video on the off-chance that someone in police leadership might have the testicular fortitude to do their job.

tgsl, Isn't it a different group of officers who guard the national monuments?

It is. The US Park police are responsible for the park land. MPDC is responsible for the sidewalks on the perimeters of the park land as well as the streets of DC. Park Police have mounted officers, and they know how to make good use of their horses for crowd control.
I still have my doubts about any police agency in DC actually charging any of these punks with crimes (if they are stupid enough to try and damage a monument or to hurl stuff at the vets). In a large crowd like that, I think you are pretty much on your own.

How about naming and linking us to that website so we can verify?
Thanks!
