Hollywood film-maker Oliver Stone shocked the audience at the British Comedy Awards with a bad-taste gag about the Suffolk murders.
The director of 'Platoon' and 'Born On The Fourth Of July' was attending the ceremony to present the best comedy film prize to Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park.
Taking the stage, he quipped: "It's great to be back in England. I feel like Jack The Ripper days are back. Nothing ever changes here."
But his attempt at comedy was met with jeers and gasps of horror from the celebrity audience.
Realising his joke had bombed, Stone sneered: "You're a lovely crowd."
One audience member said: "If he was trying to be funny, then he failed.
"To make a joke like that when five young women have been murdered and the killer is still on the loose was in unbelievably bad taste."
The land that brought us George Galloway is lecturing US on bad taste?
They got another serial killer working that area again?
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus
He probably thought they were all part of a conspiracy to hide the fact that Prince Harry is really behind the murders...

Michael Richards could learn something from this....
"They're perpetually enraged."
And hopelessly retarded.

Oh, come on--whenever someone delivers a joke that bombs they respond exactly the same way. A comedian who delivers a bomb doesn't say "Oh, I'm so sorry I offended you." They make a gratuitous insult and move on.

I never thought I'd see the day...
FReepers....
DEFENDING Oliver Stone making a tasteless joke.
(I am without words)
I believe they prefer to be called "progressives"
I remember watching the Johnny Carson show one night back in the '70s, where Joan Rivers was doing a standup routine. She had the audience absolutely roaring with laughter, until the point where she said, "I'm so ugly that when I was born my mother took one look at me and demanded an abortion." A dead, stony silence immediately ensued.
Humor should take no sides. These days, all comedians seem interested in making sure the audience knows they hate Bush, and their jokes at the libs are of the "but I love him/her, anyway, and am just laughing at their foibles, which make them loveable" variety.
Hey, I think the guy is a creep...but the line between funny and tasteless can be a fine one, as a certain would-be comedian found out.
It tickles me to see them let their hair down and keep stubbing their toes. Have you noticed that they treat their electoral victory as license to misbehave? They are still mad, too.
