I never said I supported Rudy for President. I don't. I'd support him in the general, but I seriously doubt I'd support him in the primary because of his positions on abortion and guns.

And if you read what I said, you'd realize I wasn't dragging up 'dirt' on Reagan. I think Reagan is the greatest President since Lincoln.

What I said, and what I stand by, is that Reagan didn't walk on water. He had to deal with political reality just like everybody else, and good men shouldn't be held to some mythic standard that doesn't exist.

Example: A bunch of so-called 'conservatives' threatened (or possibly even did) stay home in Pennsylvania, because Rick Santorum supported Specter in the 2004 primary. They said, repeatedly, he was 'selling out his Reagan roots'.

Which would be quite interesting to Ronald Reagan, who RECRUITED SPECTER TO RUN BACK IN 1980 IN THE FIRST PLACE.

For years many conservatives have been desperately surveying the political landscape for another Ronald Reagan..........and there is not one in sight.

That's because Tom Selleck hasn't run for governor yet.

If anything regarding Guilaini is going to diminish FreeRepublic over the next two years, it will be the repetitive intolerant foaming at the mouth posts spreading unfair inference from his appearance in political skits and lying about the man and his record.

Of course not.

The diversity of preprimary discussion is entirely necessary.

Disregard the whines of the single issuers who are intolerant of pragmatism.

What an odd post. Especially from a self proclaimed Rudy supporter.

Before you dismissing a strong candidate like Rudy, at least take a good look, and find out what he actually believes, where he stand on the issues, and where he wants to take the country, instead of relying on the left wing MSM to define him.

You might be sitting it out for a long time in the People's Republic of Clinton. Supreme leader Slick Willie and his Puppet Queen Hillary.

Never underestimate Hillary. The Arkansas Grifters are poised to take over the country.

Powder..Patch..Ball FIRE!

Doesn't really matter.... I'll not vote for either one of those two... If we get the third choice because someone that conservatives can support isn't the ticket...

I will sit out...

It will just take some Freepers, especially those not from the NYC metro area, a little longer to get disgusted with the man's history.

Ditto!

I'm a conservative but I want to say one of my proudest moments in a fellow citizen was just after the towers were hit. It was when Rudy refused the $10 million from that shiek (whatever he was)who wanted to tell us why we got hit.

That said..I won't be voting for Rudy.

I am a conservative, but I wouldn't call myself a social conservative. I think that it would be a disservice if the voice of conservatism becomes monolithic.

For instance, I'm a Christian, but I don't agree with the Christians who are going after Rick Warren because he invited Sen. Obama to speak at his church, nor do I agree with the people who say that we should purge the gay Republicans from the GOP.

I really don't care about what people do in their bedrooms. I don't want to see gay marriage legalized; however, I don't want to see people discriminated against because they are choosing a lifestyle that I disagree with. It's their life, not mine. I thought the GOP was the party that encourages people to make their own choices and understand that they are held responsible for their choices. Ultimately, God is the judge, not you or me.

I'll work for whoever the R is because I don't want the Dems to win. But I'm not happy with what I've seen from different branches of the GOP lately either.
