An Open Letter To Rush Limbaugh
Jon Alvarez ^ | 10/23/2006 | Jon Alvarez

Posted on 10/24/2006 5:24:00 AM PDT by Jon Alvarez

Dear Rush:

Pardon my French, but you’re full of s***! As I listened to your show last week, you chose to criticize and attack conservative Americans like myself who feel the Republican Party does not deserve to win in November. Rush, since when did you become such a shill for the GOP? Choosing the party over the base is a very disappointing move to this long time listener. I’m very disappointed in you, Rush Limbaugh, you’ve lost touch with the reality that is life for the common man in America. I heartily recommend you take pause and reconsider your programming strategy. Do you really want to attack those of us on the front lines versus liberalism? Rush, you yourself have become one of the elite of our society. Perhaps I need to give you some perspective, so you can better understand our anger, or at least mine.

I don't recall JimRob saying that an (R) next to a name automatically makes him or her a conservative worthy of our support.

To: XXXXXXX

I'd crawl on my knees over broken glass to pull the lever for a Republican to keep these evil monsters (Democrats) away from the levers of power.

What is your point? It's incomprehensible as written.

Not that I always interject on others squabbles, but what isn't to understand about this statement:

I don't know of any Republican in my area that was challenged in the primary that was an incumbent...
What sandbar is saying is, he had no control over selecting conservative Republicans in the primaries because none of the incumbent Republicans were challenged by any conservatives!

If we can't get rid of the RINOs in the primary because they are not being challenged, then you have to get rid of them in the generals.

Do you believe Rush is full of shit too?

Yeah. His show sucks.

Think of the most mind-numbingly boring Introduction to American Politics 101 seminar you've ever attended, dull it down a few degrees further, and put as the lecturer a pompous windbag drug addict and you pretty much get the Rush Limbo show.

> To All: This guy is a fruit loop. Go look at his web page and have a laugh. His technical prowess with HTML and choice of colors and content says it all.

I had to laugh when I saw that he did his main site in Microsoft Word (WORD!) and obviously just did a "Save As HTML" afterward. That's lame. As someone who's hand-coded HTML for over a decade, to paraphrase Natty of the Ditzy Chix, "I'm embarrassed that this fellow is from my home state of New York."

I'd say his choice of colors shows that he did a lot of mind-altering drugs back in the 60's. ;-)

But hey, there are a lot of strange critters on FR, one more or less doesn't make or break us.

--We cannot let the liberals win, even if it means holding our noses and voting for the candidate we dislike the least. -- 1. Rush has become a de facto Republican Party operative. He's too hooked up to the power structure and it's corrupting him. 2. Remember, boys and girls, "republican" does not necessarily equal "conservative." The Maharushie seems to have forgotten this. We listen (or used to listen) to him because he is (or was) a conservative commentator, not a republican one. 3. When you vote for the lesser of two evils, what you get is invariably evil. Keep in mind that the "two party" system we have in the US is really a one party system with two wings.

No. If the RINOs are unchallenged in primaries, it is because so-called "true conservatives" refuse to run, preferring to vote for liberals and claim they are teaching the GOP a lesson in true conservatism.

Yeah. Almost sounds French. I do not pardon French.

Our first goal is to slow the bleeding. If we try to fix the whole problem at once, we won't accomplish anything, and we'll be so busy getting nothing done that the libs will have their way.

I am disgusted and frustrated with the rampant spending, appeasement, and PC concessions that I see in the Republican Party. However, they are bleeding the country more slowly than the Dhimmicrats.

Are you naive?

The majority party holds the chairmanships and determines which bills and legislation are brought to the floor.

Whenever we're not totally happy with individual candidates, it is imperative to vote for the party we want to make the decisions!

>>>Get used to it. It is a reality of politics. We will never get it all. Not ever, because if we tried, we would lose the election. The idea is to get elected, and then make the rightward shift, as far as we can.>>>

Ah Ha! Herein lies the problem. If they pulled that at election and THEN DID SOMETHING DIFFERENT, it would be a different story. Unfortunately, it seems lately they have continued onward in the catering to leftist voters.

Why can you not understand our anger?

Wow! Spoken like a Liberal!

I'm with Mr. Alvarez on being REALLY angry, but with Rush on what to do about it. At the top of my list is NOT "Take all my marbles and go home." If Brother Alvarez would look around Free Republic, he'd realize that unanimity just isn't going to happen. Consequently, that great and glorious day when everybody agrees with me, or with him, or with Rush, isn't going to happen.

So we have to fight this war on a couple of fronts. We have to deal, to roll logs. We MUST struggle to maintain the ground we took in previous national elections, and we must use other means to take ground in primaries, caucuses, and so forth.

What politicians will learn from conservatives who flee the field is that they have to run MORE toward the ever-shifting middle if they want to get elected.

Yes, we are the Republican version of what blacks are in the Democratic party. We won't fix that by staying home. WE also won't fix that to limiting our participation to voting in general elections and the occasional primary, and spending the rest of our time kvetching -- or even demonstrating.

We have to go to the boring meetings and schmooze with the slimey pols, and we must never give up.

As to understanding the anger: I'm a former clergydude and LEO chaplain. I know something about anger. Freepmail me and we can talk. But on the field, anger that causes one to lose is pathological if not downright sinful. Sure let's understnad with and work thorugh our feelings. But we can't let that get in the way of winning.

How on EARTH can you claim to be on the front lines against liberalism when you promote liberalism by not voting against the democrats??? And I'm NOT talking about wasting your vote on a third party.

Thank you. I was confused on how I didn't get my point across, but didn't want to get into a heated debate over grammar.

BTW. Sandbar is a she.

This needs to be said:

Those of us who advocate voting in this election are FAR FROM PLEASED with the GOP. I know I'm not. With their caving to the DemocRATS on important issues like the WOT and illegal immigration, there were times I wonder whether or not I wanted to vote. I understand the anger from people like Jon Alvarez. We want the GOP to stop being such pansies and start hitting the RATS where it hurts and stop worrying about how the media is going to portray them.

I'd say everyone here who is attacking this post by Jon have their issues with the GOP but understand that this is NOT the time to be "sending the GOP" a message. We have troops on the ground and terrorists who want to kill us. Many of us, heck I'll go so far to say that all of us, aren't pleased with the GOP's handling of things. There should be prosecution of those who leak top secret information to the media. There should have been a house cleaning of the intelligence agencies to clean out all the RATS who infested the place. We should be leading the way in ridding this country of illegal immigrants. This isn't happening under the GOP and it is tempting to "send them a message".

But then, I think of the DemocRATS and what will happen if they get into power. Folks can talk about how we should be "above" saying "The other guy will be worse" but truth is truth. The DemocRATS ARE WORSE because they don't give a crap about this country. What plan do they offer? What are they talking about doing when they obtain power? They care more about the terrorists than they care about protecting America. They care more about how the world (who hates us!) perceive us than preserving our way of life. They are almost gleeful when soldiers die and violence in Iraq escalates because, as Rush has always said, "Bad news for America is GOOD news for the DemocRATS"! And some so-called conservatives want to sit out the election, to teach the GOP a lesson, under the assumption that people will get so tired of DemocRATS that we will win again? Sorry but I'm not putting my life and the lives of my family, just to "spank" the GOP. That's an assumption on which I can't bank.

President George W. Bush is far from perfect and he has disappointed me on the issue of illegal immigration. But the man geniunely wants to protect this nation from terrorists. I already voted but my rationale was this: I was NOT going to put him in a bind by not voting and, by default, electing DemocRATS who will do nothing but tie his hands with impeachment proceedings ... and for what? All because they're ticked off because their RAT president got impeached! All because they couldn't commit enough vote fraud to get their appeasement candidates to win the election!

I say NO to this madness! If the only reason I needed to vote for the GOP is that the DemocRATS WILL GET US KILLED, that was ALL the reason I needed. And I suspect, those who are also voting, feel the same way.

Okay, /rant!
