Pope Stirs Up Poop
My favorite story of the week is about Pope Benedict inadvertently insulting Islam in a speech. He quoted a Byzantine emperor who called Islam evil and inhuman but made it clear that it wasnt his own opinion.
In response to being labeled evil and inhuman by a dead Byzantine emperor, a group of Muslims did what anyone would do in that situation: They firebombed two churches in the West Bank.
This is funny on so many levels that I hardly know where to start. But let me begin by saying WHAT THE HELL ARE CHURCHES DOING IN THE WEST BANK?????????

Read the first few pages of the New Testament, idiot. There's your answer.
What a ding-dong.
I recently read a lengthy article about the West Bank Christan community here on FR during the recent Lebanon conflict. Can anyone recall it?
Sounds like a typical victim of public schooling.
Few know much about the history of the world, including the "holy land".
I think that many people assume that it's such a dangerous are, Christian churches (and much else) would not be there.

Stick to subjects you know something about, Scott, like morons in management. You sound sound just like the Boss in your strip.
To paraphrase the punchline of one of his strips (of which I own several books of):
What the hell are you doing speculating on middle eastern politics?
Almost 1,600 years ago, a group of hermit monks built this monastery into the remote cliffs in the desert of Israel so that they could live apart from the rest of the world. Because the local stone of the cliffs was used as building material, the monastery appears to grow naturally from its site.
When I first viewed it from the old roman road high above it literally took your breath away so unexpected, beautiful and astonishing the sight was where all you could view was the desolation of the desert all around you.
Here's one:
In Land of Jesus, Christians Struggle [And blame the USA]
How did they get water and food??
When searching for pics and there are a lot out there on the net since its such a photogenic sight one showed an aqueduct so I guess that is how the water comes. Food I have no idea...I never visited the monastery since it wasn't part of the tour itinerary I was on. We just drove up the old roman road which passes by it and stopped for a short while to view it. The area is known for where the parable of the good samaritan was supposed to happen btw.
His comic strip is funny, but he's ignorant about history.
That's it. Thanks!
