Could there possibly be any media bias in this AP report via Yahoo:
A Palestinian security officer holds his weapon as he guard the entrance of the St. Perfidious Greek Orthodox Church after it was attacked by militants in Gaza City, Saturday Sept. 16, 2006. Palestinians wielding guns, firebombs and lighter fluid attacked four churches in the West Bank town of Nablus on Saturday, while gunmen opened fire at a fifth in Gaza, following remarks by Pope Benedict XVI that many Muslims view as disparaging. That struck me as a strange name for a saint, so I googled him up, with no results. I googled up "St. Perfidious Greek Orthodox Church," with no matches. Nor did he appear in this directory of orthodox saints.
What I did find when I googled "Orthodox churches Gaza" was a Wikipedia article mentioning St. Porphyrus Church in a list of Gaza City attractions:
* St. Porphyrus ChurchThis 4th century church is where St. Porphyrus died and was buried (420 CE) It is located in the Gaza's old city and still in use today by the Greek Orthodox Community.
St. Porphyrus, St. Perfidious --- close enough, huh, unless you consider the definition of perfidious (via Dictionary.com):
per‧fid‧i‧ous /pərˈfɪdiəs/adjective deliberately faithless; treacherous; deceitful: a perfidious lover. [Origin: 15901600; < L perfidiōsus faithless, dishonest. See perfidy, -ous]
Synonyms false, disloyal; unfaithful, traitorous. Antonyms faithful.
Is this the AP's subtle way of saying that they are sympathetic to the Palestinians who firebombed the church Saturday? Are they claiming that the church is somehow disloyal, unfaithful, or traitorous to the Palestinian cause? It may be a slip of the tongue, but it seems more like a Freudian slip to me.
Loved the article. Your blog link in #1 doesn't work for me, but I visited via the link under the article title.
Thank you! I hope you'll take a look around the blog.
Good work!

I really liked that one, too...and I have added you to my blogroll.
Looks good, to me.
Thanks.

It seems to have been carried by VOA as well. That's a huge mistake. I wonder if someone notified AP about it.
You're reading too much into a MS Word spellcheck error.
