DUmmie FUnnies 08-14-06 (DUmmies Enter "V For Vendetta" Fantasy Zone)
DUmmie FUnnies ^ | August 14, 2006 | DUmmies and PJ-Comix

Stand by for some really great laughs on Sunday, November 5. Some Dummies, taking their cue from the movie, V For Vendetta, are actually planning to gather in front of public buildings around the country wearing dopey Guy Fawkes masks as you can see in this THREAD titled, "Remember, remember the 5th of November....". Yeah, that's just the ticket, DUmmies. Leading into the midterm elections, make complete FOOLS of yourselves. This doesn't totally surprise me since the DUmmies instantly took to this fantasy flick in which Britain is ruled by an EVIL rightwing regime. The DUmmies have fantasized themselves in the masked hero's role in opposing that regime (which they have transferred to the EVIL Bush regime). So let us now watch the DUmmies once again make laughingstocks of themselves in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, looking for a V For Vendetta Halloween costume at the Dollar Store, is in the [brackets]:

"Remember, remember the 5th of November...."

[I'm already getting ready with the popcorn and soda. Will you be appearing at the Laugh Factory? (Remember this plug, Jamie Masada.)]

Last night, I finally got around to seeing the copy of V for Vendetta that I bought a while back. As the movie credits rolled at the end, I checked the calendar and noted that Guy Fawkes Day falls this year on the Sunday before Election Day. That got me thinking....

[Did you also check the calendar for your next appointment date with your Shrink?]

Imagine: At the same time around the country -- say, noon Eastern Time -- men and women assembling before federal buildings, county court houses and legislative buildings, even Congress in the District of Columbia. All are dressed in black and wearing Guy Fawkes masks. They stand in silent vigil for a time, then disperse.

[Make it a DUAC project. DUAC! DUAC! And you really are DUACky.]

The message, I think, would be clear: we are tired of the government attempts at terrorizing the people. We are tired of the ruling party's use of fear and bigotry to cow us. We are no longer buying in to the claims that wiretaps and prohibitions on freedom are all "for our own protection." And we are putting the government on notice that we are empowered to take action in the elections in two days.

[We are tired of being taken seriously. And we are putting the government on notice that we are sanity challenged.]

Thoughts?

[Yeah. Check out standup night at the Laugh Factory. (Remember this plug, Jamie Masada.)]

go for it!

[Translation: YOU go for it. I'll be watching you make fools of yourselves from my basement computer monitor.]

Make your own mask...

[Naw. Easier to pick one up at the Dollar Store.]

Halloween is only the week before. I expect the masks will be inexpensive and very readily available.

[Yeah, you can also pick up a Tinkerbell mask for tinkling that Pixie Dust all over yourselves.]

World Can't Wait is organizing a day of repudiation and resistance for October 5.

[And the Laugh Factory is organizing a day of laughter and mockery for September 5. (Remember that plug, Jamie Masada.)]

Guy Fawkes represents terrorism so I'd be against that.

[LOUSY FREEPER TROLL!!!]

By that logic our founding fathers were terrorists. Our founding fathers used what England considered terrorist acts (dumping tea in the harbor, for example) in the lead-up to the American Revolution in order to break the chains of oppression.

[Is that you, Brian Williams?]

Not terrorism. The group of Catholics behind Guy Fawkes, who was a mercenary more than an ideolouge, planned on destroying the entire English government in one fell swoop, making it more of a coup attempt than a terrorist attack. And not one without reason, as the English government of the day strongly persecuted all religous minorities, especially Catholics.

[So will you be Guy Fawkes from the historical past or from the fantasy V For Vendetta future?]

It was more a cry for help... than an actual coup, as James' government would likely not have immidiately been replaced by a Catholic monarch. Fawkes and his comrades were trying to do something big to get the Catholic countries of Europe, especially Spain, involved in returning Britain to Catholicism.

[A much more likely scenario than returning DUmmies to sanity.]

At least 65% of the country have no idea who Guy Fawkes is and why someone would wear his mask.

[Folks will just think that you are just a bunch of losers who were late for Halloween.]

Remember, remember the fifth of November
The gunpowder treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, twas his intent
To blow up king and parliament.
Three score barrels were laid below
To prove old England's overthrow.

By God's mercy he was catched
With a dark lantern and lighted match.
Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring
Holler boys, holler boys, God save the King.

[Laughter boys, laughter boys, Fantasy Fling
Laughter boys, laughter boys, Let Insanity Sing.]

A press release, then. One that will REALLY drive home the message. Then include a paragraph or two that the central message of the movie was about reawakening hope in a people that had been brutally repressed by a fascist one party state and not about blowing things up.

[Or, better yet, issue your explanation from the stage of the Laugh Factory. (Remember this plug, Jamie Masada.)]

And the majority in the country will ask... "Why are people wearing those strange looking masks?"

[And the majority in the country will ask... "Who are those morons looking like shmucks?"]

It would be taken out of context, and ridiculed.

[Earth to DUmmieland---It ALREADY is being ridiculed.]

I understand what you are saying, but... the media, especially O'Reilly and Limbaugh, as well as the less out-and-out GOP partisans such as Chris Matthews will always find some way to ridicule us. It would be a full-time, not to mention fruitless, occupation trying to avoid ridicule from the corporate media.

[And from the DUmmie FUnnies.]

Good point. We can always expect them to say nasty things about us. They keep trying to make us into hippies, when the reality of the situation is we represent mainstream America. I just think it's more difficult to marginalize us when we take to the streets looking professional, not that they still won't try. I just keep thinking back to those people who dressed up in the turtle outfits at Seattle. I never heard from the media why they dressed up that way, but I saw photos of them in every outlet, almost always accompanied by some mocking tag line.

[ATTACK OF THE TURTLE PEOPLE! Now appearing at the Laugh Factory. (Remember that plug, Jamie Masada.)]

How about assembling without the masks? When it comes to analogies from films, I always dug that scene in A Bug's Life with the grasshopper explaining the power of the masses.

[So wear a pair of antennae while explaining the power of the asses.]

how about... assembling with Lincoln masks? or Jefferson? or Washington? y'know, a founding fathers tribute... The point of the masks in the movie (and in reality) is to hide the identities of the protesters so that they are seen as a MASS MOVEMENT. I think it would also help with the current police taping of protests... if everyone is wearing a mask, focusing the camera on maskwearers and other "suspicious" individuals wouldn't be very effective. That being said, it would be awfully easy to infiltrate a masked army...

[I plan on infiltrating while wearing my Li'l Beaver mask.]

The DUmmies don't look as filthy with those masks on. Maybe that's why they want the masks.

More like 95% woulsn't know --

My guess is that most people will think it's something like a Rocky-Horror Picture Show or Star Trek kind of dress-up fad.... with cheap maskes

Americans(even reasonably educated Americans) have zero idea who Guy Falkes was.

Of course, no doubt a New York Times Reporter will spend 5 or 6 pages trying to explain.

Imagine: At the same time around the country -- say, noon Eastern Time --

Never work.

1. Noon ET is 9:00 AM PT. No libs will be conscious at that hour....
2. In the Eastern Time Zone, most folks will either be in church or waiting for the NFL "Game of the Week" kickoff....
3. Here in the hills, most folks carry guns, and aren't afraid to use them, be it on varmits, or freaks....

Last night's lightning strikes were so frequent and so intense that if they were portrayed via CGI in a movie, folks wouldn't believe it. The blasts were INCREDIBLE and most were less than a mile away.

That's the way it was here. We just hunkered down and prayed we'd make it through without getting the zot. A tree across the road wasn't so lucky, it burned all night. The cows that usually hang around it lucked out though. ;-)

James VI and I didn't think too much of ol' Guy - he issued these instructions to his gaolers:

"If he will not other ways confess, gentler tortures are first to be used unto him and thus by degrees to the extremes. And so God speed your good work."

They eventually worked - Faukes confessed and gave up the names of the other conspirators.

The degree to which he was tortured can be seen in his signature to his confession - it's barely legible.

If this administration were the tyrannical beast the DUmmies claim it is, they would suffer the same fate for showing up anywhere with Guy Faukes masks.

Yes, very clear: As per the movie, you are ready to blow up government buildings and federal workers if your "demands" are not met. Why not simply put on hijabs and suicide belts instead?

"I hate to break it to them, but if they try this at the Seattle Federal Building the only audience they'll get will be the homeless and the cops."

BTW, didn't Seattle pass a law banning demonstrators from concealing their faces via masks? IIRC, it was an attempt to keep the anarchists from stirring up violence?

HEY! Did you notice the mention of Jamie Masada and the Laugh Factory in this DUFU edition? Guess who just called me a few minutes ago?---Jamie himself. I hadn't heard from him in at least a couple of years. Anyway, he told me that in addition to the Laugh Factory on Times Square, Hollywood, and Long Beach, that he is planning on opening a Las Vegas Laugh Factory and also one in Atlanta.

Any fellow SoFladites esperience that INCREDIBLE thunderstorm last night.

Hey PJ - it wasn't close to us (in Lake Worth), but I sat outside and watched and listened to it. That was AMAZING. So, you were in the thick of it?

Right in the middle. Most of the lightning strikes were less than a mile away (I counted seconds between flashes and thunder). And they were POWERFUL. There had to be at least one lightning strike per second. Rare was 5 seconds going by without a lightning strike. Absolutely AMAZING! What was it like watching from a distance?

Good grief, these people are totally detached from reality. Dumping tea in a harbor is a terrorist act, but crossing a sovereign border, firing missiles in an unprovoked attack, and murdering and kidnapping people is not a terrorist act.

I wonder what their thoughts are on how Guy Fawkes day is celebrated in the UK?

I think that makes it all the more hilarious that the Brits will think they are bigger nutters than we will.

Hippies wearing black Guy Fawkes costumes? Not seeing it, sounds too goth.

Maybe we should try and get them to dress up in tie-dyed Guy Fawkes outfits. Now THAT would be something to see.

It was beautiful. You could see that there were some strong strikes, and then there was the lightning that fanned out through the clouds. It was one heck of a show, I can tell you that!
