This DUmmie would have made a fine soviet member.

Religion is brainwashing. It breeds passivity. The DUmmies can't even get their stories striaght on this ludicrous idea. This nutjob says that religion "breeds passivity", but the original poster syas that religion "seems to be at the epicenter of most of the worlds strife". Which one is it?

While these kinds of idiotic bloviations are always amusing, PJ, in my opinion the LOL-funniest DU threads are the ones where some DUer offers a narcissistic tirade about how horrible his life is, what obstacles he has to overcome, how no one recognizes his genius or specialness and how some conservative or other is ruining his life.
Those threads on "gifted" DUers had me in tears they were so delightful.

Ann's book title was dead on! I think Coulter pointed out that among all of the charges she levels in the book, the only thing anyone on the left complains about is her treatment of the "Jersey Girls", which, in addition to proving Coulter's point for her, also shows that they have no problem being called "Godless".

"I'm also a practicing High Church Anglican, although it would be more proper to call me a Neo-Platonist, (for example, I do not literally believe in the actual divinity of Christ, but I do believe in the metaphorical divinity of the philosophy of Christ...Neither do I believe that "god" exists in the way that say your dining room table exists or is conscious even in the way that your pet is conscious)."Typical of many in our liberal mainstream Christian organizations today. We had an ELCA pastor who essentially fit this description. One Sunday during Adult Bible Study he threw the Bible onto the floor and declared it 'just another book'. That's why we're no longer associated with the ELCA.
This individual finds Christianity intriguing, and has apparently made a profession of it, to some degree. Yet the Holy Spirit has not entered his heart. Too bad, too sad. But it is something we must be open to as well. This man is more impressed with his own knowledge that his own salvation.

But I love the delicious irony of Luddites on the internet. [Especially luddites posting against technology on the web.]
Don't be so proud of this technological terror you have created. The ability to connect with other moonbats and post pure pablum is insignifigant next to the power of controlling the Judicial Branch.

Show me where the constitution 'mandates' that.

"My children, for example, have never been to a church and were not baptized. If it's something for them, it'll be their decision. "
What an idiot! He/she made that decision for his/her child. If he thinks he is allowing his child to make his own decision by refusing to allow the child to enter a church and actually find anything out about God, he's nuts.
Okay, I know I am stating the obvious here. He is a dummie.

PJ, this is probably the most frightening thing I've ever read in the Dummie Funnies...

Darn! I thought about posting on that thread yesterday. I could have added another LOUSY FREEPER TROLL citation to my collection. Or maybe gotten another Kewpie doll.
But I passed up my chance.
Sad, really.

I'd be happy with both of them [religion and science] goneBoth gone, huh? Kind of hard to imagine a DUmmie without an iPod, computer, Play Station and cell phone, not to mention a DUmmie with his curse word vocabulary cut in half.....

Why?

Should religion be outlawed as it seems to be at the epicenter of most of the worlds strife. What exactly is the purpose of it. If it is so good why so much bad comes of it. DUmmies may as well try to outlaw hate, anger, or jealousy. IMHO religion is an integral part of man's nature. I happen to believe that every human being over a certain age in childhood is religious to some extent in one way or another. I am of the opinion that even the most thoroughly convinced atheist worships something or someone. It may be money, fame, social status, another human being, his/her own intellect, whatever, but he/she worships something either consciously or unconsciously.
I suspect that DUmmies worship the far left's own version of the divine trinity, the disembodied spirits of Stalin, Mao, and Che Guevara. They probably dream of being rewarded for their devotion by being given the position of propaganda commissar in an ethereal afterlife collectivist state.

You expect consistency from a DUmmie? Actually, no.
I've been reading up on Narcissistic Personality Disorder, primarily to prepare for a go at Pitt's next drunken rant. While I know it's not kosher to apply the symptoms to diagnose a group, still, the individuals who make up DU seem to exhibit many of these characteristics that the group as a whole shows:
- Self-contradictory
- Cruel [in general, lacks empathy for other people]
- Lacks in mature conscience
- Envious
- Competitive
- Extremely sensitive to personal criticism
- Extremely critical of other people
- Passive
- Naive
- Grandiose
- Lacks a (normal) sense of humor
- Lacks a proper sense of time
- Authoritarian [either in control, or enabling those in control]
- Exhibits unusual work habits/goals
- Feels entitled
- Sting, mean, frugal, niggardly
- Exhibits unusual eating habits
- Flirtatious and seductive
- Obsessed with appearances
- Secretive
- Out of touch with their own feelings
- Negative, pessimistic, cynical, gloomy
- Impulsive
- Hate being alone [I read this as requiring affirmation from others]

"1. no minor should be allowed to possess a religious text, participate in a religious ritual or enter a church 2. no adult should be allowed to possess a religious text without taking a course in comparative world religion at the first year university level, and all such courses should be taught by Unitarians or Atheists. Scary dude.

Apparently NBC's Lisa Daniels has never cared much for science. From another thread...
"NBC's Lisa Daniels reported from Boston as part of the heat-wave coverage. As photo-ops go it didn't begin to approach Canoe-Gate magnitude, but at one point Daniels donned a hard hat to make a ceremonial shovel of steaming-hot asphalt. She later pointed to a tall construction crane and exclaimed, in sympathy with those working on it: "it's 250 feet closer to the sun!"
Apparently Lisa has never considered why snow remains at higher elevations out West as late as July or possibly August.
As for her understanding of religion, well, who knows? Maybe she agrees with those who believe all we do on Sundays is conspire political options and transmit them telepathically to Karl Rove. Here's the link...
