Buchanan - Where are the Christians?
WND ^ | July 19 2006 | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 07/19/2006 7:59:25 PM PDT by rcocean

Where are the Christians?

But what Israel is doing is imposing deliberate suffering on civilians, collective punishment on innocent people, to force them to do something they are powerless to do: disarm the gunmen among them. Such a policy violates international law and comports neither with our values nor our interests. It is un-American and un-Christian.

But where are the Christians? Why is Pope Benedict virtually alone among Christian leaders to have spoken out against what is being done to Lebanese Christians and Muslims?

When al-Qaida captured two U.S. soldiers and barbarically butchered them, the U.S. Army did not smash power plants across the Sunni Triangle. Why then is Bush not only silent but openly supportive when Israelis do this?

Democrats attack Bush for crimes of which he is not guilty, including Haditha and Abu Ghraib. Why are they, too, silent when Israel pursues a conscious policy of collective punishment of innocent peoples?

"Buchanan is a POS'

If name calling is all you can do, I guess Pat is right -its not very persuasive.

Unlike all the Israel supporters, I don't have a dog in this hunt. Just an American, interested in the USA. But Pat seems be standing for the rights of the underdog, which is the American way.

No, it's an ancient, trite cliche formulated out of desperate and hyperactive idealism; romantic, but with no basis in reality.

Most people here have not done name calling, but have formulated persuasive and hard-hitting arguments against Buchanan. Of course, you don't answer any of those.

No, what Pat is doing is playing the opportunity card. He knows this sort of talk will get him exposure with the leftist networks - he's most likely got a book coming out this year. He usually acts like a jackass before he has a book coming out. Then six months after he will ask to "come back to the fold" as he did back in October '04. The man is a freaking joke.

Pat Al-Buchanan ought to defect to Iran so he can be a speech-writer for Ahmadinajad.

Agreed. Pat is not "standing for the Underdog", but rather standing for Pat and whatever delusion he has this week. Of he were "standing up for the underdog", then he would be in support of Israel - the only Jewish state on earth which happens to be surrounded by people who want to wipe it off the map. How much more "underdog" can you get?

Also, Pat forgets about a few things such as the measures Israel has taken to establish a peace process. Also, each time they offer an olive branch, the outstretched hand is stabbed. Hezbullah exists at the discretion of Lebanon and the support of Syria and Iran. Lebanon could have asked for help in smashing Hezbullah long ago, but chose to do squat.

"standing for the rights of the underdog, which is the American way."

lol....yeah, the Arabs are some underdog.

Actually, the American Way is standing up for what's right. .....and when it comes to the Israeli-Arab conflict, the moral high ground is always occupied by the Israelis.

Pat got into a somewhat heated debate with Mort Zuckerman (Editor of U.S. News & World Report and the publisher/owner of the NY Daily News) on Scarborough's (MSNBC) show earlier regarding this issue.

Evolution at work, the survival of the fittest. This is nature at work, land is only your land as long as you can hold it. If you are too weak to hold it, you don't deserve to claim it. Lebanon can't hide behind, "Our government is too weak to do a thing about disarming Hezbola" and expect to survive.

They signed a U.N. agreement knowing they had no intention or ability to fulfill it. They should have said so then, before signing onto a promise they had no intention of keeping. What they should have done, if they were honest, would have been to ask Israel to help them disarm the terrorists.

But they have been dishonest from the get go. Now they pay the price for that. So this idiot is saying that just because Christian areas are taking heat that Israel should just lay down and accept a thousand rockets attacking it's cities? Israel should conquer Lebanon, run everyone out and claim it as their own.

"Instead of blaming Israel, a smart rational person would blame the terrorists."

I guess this proves PJB is neither smart or rational.

He is about selling his stories. Whatever it takes to have a "marketable, provocative" viewpoint.

Whenever Israel is involved, count on PJB to oppose Israel. Israel was lawfully established by the UN; has been under continual attack by bloodthirsty, fanatical muslim terrorists from day one.

A smart and rational person would see this history. PJB thinks the US could have stayed out of WWII. How smart and rational is that?

This could be the single best satirical line in this thread, with its echoes of "Springtime for Hitler". Unfortunately, it represents the dangerous simmering in the slime of buchanan's new-old third party, the Know Nothings. You could look it up.

"I guess this proves PJB is neither smart or rational."

Unfortunately, Pat is both smart and rationale.

He just hates Jews and, accordingly, blames Jews for all the problems.
