Very well stated. In Asia, it is common for young women to marry older men.

Not sure that I do. Your mind and mine are clearly wired differently. Cadillacs have absolutely no place in my evaluation. More like locomotive headlights.

Dear phony letter writer and phony letter answer babe - you both need to stay out of the gene pool. Thank you - the management.

I see Maureen Dowd is still trolling for a lover.

/here's mine

Dear Phony Answer Babe, I'm a narcacistic selfish bitch who's high maintentance, spoiled, and accustomed to being treated as Princess by my Daddy. Why can't I find a man who thinks the pleasure of sleeping with me is worth putting up with my bs on a day to day basis? Its them, right? - Maureen

Most normal women can't meet the standard of looks you all have set up for us in judging the pictures you've posted in this thread.

We don't expect you to. And we know better than to select a "babe" as a mate, b/c other males pester her and tempt the relationship when things inevitably get rough. I married based on the following criteria, in no particular order:

1) pleasant to look at, esp in the eyes 2) sense of humor, wit, satire 3) intelligent, curious, interesting discussions 4) enjoys sex, willing to experiment 5) pure heart, not a gold digger or manipulator 6) sane

From what I've seen, women who describe themselves as "intimidating" are women that I would not want to associate with. Sounds like a built-in defense mechanism.

Built-in selfishness. I fell head over heels for a girl in college, the kind of love that devours your soul, and it lasted 10 years. She was "independent" in the sense that she was never wrong, never apologized, never compromised - Little Miss Can't Be Wrong. Afterwards, I inadverantly hurt alot of women b/c I was still in love with her and holding out for her. I wouldn't do it differently - I learned alot about life. Luckily, I met a good-hearted women who broke the "spell" and married her.

"Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers". That was me.

I know a number of eligible females of many different backgrounds that essentially refuse to date any man that is not at least five years their senior.

I wonder how much of that is women looking for their father's characteristics in their mate.

It's not that "men marry down" as much as men have different search criteria.

Yes, and it drives "successful" women crazy.

These "afraid of strong women" howls appear frequently. The etiology is simple.

Women (all women) eroticize success in a man. There's no question about it, you see it everywhere, every day.

Babes like this one use projection to infer that, just as they get excited thinking about a man who is successful, that because THEY are successful, men should be attracted to THEM.

But we're just not.

We are not afraid of, intimidated by, turned off by, worldly success in a woman. But we don't really care very much about it, either. It certainly isn't a relationship starter, in the way it is for women.

Therefore, the field of potential female mates for a successful man is very large, because a) most women are attracted to him, and b) any attractive woman, regardless of employment or social status, can be a player.

For a successful woman who will only be turned on by status higher than hers, however, the talent pool starts small and shrinks rapidly after age 25 or so, as her wiser sisters pick a winner and take him off the market.

By age 38, that pool is vanishingly small.

What is it with women thinking they need a couple of little brats running around to be fulfilled in life?

There are some guys out there (like myself) who find kids to be loud, annoying, smelly, dirty and generally a pain in the ass. I don't really WANT any kids.

Did either of you two see that show on ABC Monday night 10pm EDT)? It was a show about dating.

I was at the gym in my buffness working out but the sound was turned down.

Eventhough sound was not up I didn't have a positive opinion of either the guys or gals on the show.

The guys looked too metro (I am a straight guy )and the women appeared too annoying. I could be wrong about the women. I thought women wanted real men.

Some men and women are extraordinarily happy with their children. Other people simply don't want to have them. Both groups have valid reasons.

That's a good explanation. I agree that it must be almost impossible for a successful 38 yeard old woman to meet the kind of man she desires. They are all taken. (And I suspect that most have younger, less achieving, child rearing wives.)

Let me tell you. brudda, that rearing children who are emotionally healthy, productive, and virtuous is not a "lesser" achievement, it's the cornerstone of civilization. A woman who can do that is an overachieving superstar, IMO.
