All I know is that my husband was furious when he found out that in the beginning of this movie, when they were supposed to say FIGHTING FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND THE AMERICAN WAY, the left out "THE AMERICAN WAY." He said he'll never go see this movie.

Well did you expect Perry White Editor of the Daily Planet (The New York times) to say American Way?

I'll have to side with your husband on that point. I'll probably see the movie, but that changed phrase is going to frost me!

People still "go" to movies? How quaint.

Saw the movie today.
Nice movie, but not as really great as I expected.
I gotta admit I never thought of the religious symbolisms you mention, while I was watching it.
But yeah, Lois Lane was a good woman, and her bf turned out to be a great guy and a good father to the boy, even tho he's not his biological son.
Plus of course good triumphs over evil.
Nice wholesome entertainment fare for the family.

In other words, they restored the original version. "The American Way" was added in the '50's when Superman became an *extremely* bland white-bread superhero.

You said the world doesn't need salvation so why do I hear it calling out for a Savior.
I am going to make that my Tag. Most uplifting thing I have heard in a movie in years and much more important than Superman saying Truth justice and the American way.

The only reason I would even consider seeing this movie, if and only if, Kate Bosworth does a nude scene. ;)

I am promoting it because I am a fan of Superman and I see a message in the movie that is missed by the people who haven't seen it and don't know that even Hollywood has a hard time denigrating Superman.

In this day and age you don't need a theater to know a story for a movie in the theater. There are more than enough spoiler sites around that will give you EXACTLY what is in the movie.
I am a fan of series and despise the PC movment of the "big blue". There was no reason to make lois lane a single mom. there was no reason to wimpify superman.

There is a reason, she had sex with Clark in the second movie (while she was married to him. There is a result of having unprotected sex ... that is a child. If she had aborted the child that would have been the liberal thing to do. She didn't do that she did the right thing. I think it makes the movie stronger and more conservative.

People still "go" to movies? How quaint.I do, for $2. Add another $3 for a big tub of buttered popcorn.
For a good movie, no 'home theater' can match the big screen.
To: newgeezer
Yep. I usually wait til the movie gets to the "Second-run" theater, where it costs just $2.50. Just like the regular movie theaters but much cheaper.
