There was an episode of Newhart (the 1980's sitcom) where Bob Newhart's handyman George announced he was giving up on the Red Sox. Bob Newhart would turn on the tv and hear stuff like "and in sports news, George Utley has given up on the Boston Red Sox!"

20 years ago, that was the stuff of cutting edge, surrealistic farce. Now it's happening every day in real life. "Some guy on the internet has given up on special prosecutor Fitzgerald!"

It's also interesting to note that 20 years ago, the only thing people got that worked up over was sports.

IIRC Leopold promised to reveal his 'sources' if this story turned out to be BS, which it did.

These guys are so lame it's hilarious.

Awhile back I saw a documentary on Woodstock. One part I thought was pretty humorous was when it started raining. The MC came out on stage and "If we all concentrate REALLY hard together and sing Rain Rain, Go Away we'll make this rain stop!!!

So the MC and the entire crowd start to sing, and about 3 seconds into the song they were damn near drowned by a deluge that kept getting worse!

That wasn't a "documentary on Woodstock". That was Al Gore in "An Inconvenient Truth".

They're getting swiftboated and it's a shame to see us eat our own. Rove is laughing his ass off at us.

As the rest of us are too.

I don't know about that, but I wouldn't bet against it.

BTW can you figure out what this sentence means? I can't make heads or tails of it:

I will say this, "TruthOUT" will not suffer my loyalty to their allegiance to truth.

TIA.

You missed the best quote from that thread:

109. Captain Ash has spoken. Time to cue the orchestra...

♫ Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me. ♫

Dateline DU. The good ship Truthtanic, once the pride of the fleet and considered unsinkable, gurgles ignominiously into the cold waters after striking a large iceberg of truth. Fault must ultimately lie with Captain Ash who insisted on full speed, despite the treacherous waters. It seems that the words of Navigator Leopold led him to believe that their course was true and that they were ahead of the other ships, based on unsubstantiated radio transmissions. First Mate Wm. Pitt was last seen in the bar.

Have fun with the deck-chairs.

I have no idea. So I had a second cup of coffee. It still made no sense unless some words were left out.

I will say this, "TruthOUT" will not suffer (the loss of) my loyalty to for their allegiance to truth.

It still makes no sense but at least it scans properly now.

Vickers, the guy is not a soldier - he is some blogger that got caught up in his own bullshit. I don't know him, maybe he thought he was right and all that - but for god's sake - don't use military terms with me, it is a real sore point right now.

I suppose this whole SNAFU has you upset right now, but not to worry. No matter how FUBAR things get, you soon will be able to BOHICA real soon....

"I will say this, "TruthOUT" will not suffer my loyalty to their allegiance to truth."

If it just said:

"I will say this, "TruthOUT" will not suffer my loyalty."

Or:

"I will say this, "TruthOUT" will suffer my loyalty."

It would make sense. That last part makes it really hard to know what he's getting at.
