I watched it. I thought he did a very good job, better than usual with his public speaking. I wouldn't quite call it "regret."
I guess with his popularity rating that low, he really has nothing to lose.

kind of tough talk that sent the wrong signal to people. I learned some lessons about expressing myself maybe a little in a more sophisticated manner Great. Next thing you know he'll be "nuanced". My kind of guy.

WOW, I thought this was a joke at first.
The President's tough talk against terror was a good thing.

Bush is pretending that the war is the reason his numbers are so low and not the border. What a wimp he is turning out to be. If he actually said this he should be ashamed of himself! Everyone was proud of his tough stance at the beginning. Look at him now.

Just saw much of Bush's press conference with Tony Blair on C-SPAN. I'll give W. this -- he had a very good little riff on (against) the U.N. I'm a red-meat guy, and this was W. at his best.

If it is even true that President Bush said this I think he has bigger problems than he thinks he does. I don't think the Iraq War is the cause of his low percentages. Especially among Republicans this is not the reason.
I think he needed to talk tough after 9/11 and I supported him going to war in Iraq, and still support the war.
My issue is the wide open borders and the way he kisses up to Mexico, who has never ever been a friend to the US. If you think Mexico is our friend, look up past UN votes and make note of how often Mexico votes against the US.

Nearly all of this latest crop of FR disruptors seem to have registered in 2005. I'm guessing there is a concerted attempt to divide Republicans for the 2006 elections by turning every thread into an immigration fight.
They earlier tried it with the ports issue, but were foiled once everyone found out Schumer was behind that one! :-)
