The reason why they chose 'Buratha' (Iran behind bombings to affect the political process)
Iraq the Model ^ | April 7 2006 | Omar

Posted on 04/07/2006 10:21:05 AM PDT by jmc1969

A new massacre has struck Baghdad when three suicide bombers attacked the Buratha mosque in Baghdad this afternoon. "More than 70 people were killed and more than 150 were injured" a doctor from Baghdad's medical city told me in a phone call.

A closer look at the targeted mosque makes me think that the ramifications of this massacre can possibly be much worse than the immediate death and pain this terror attack brought, the Buratha mosque is not an ordinary mosque, it has a special religious value for Shia Iraqis as it's thought to be one of the places where Imam Ali stayed and prayed.

But that's not the most important thing because this mosque is of considerable political significance, the preacher in this mosque is Jalal Addin al-Sagheer, a cleric from the SCIRI who was the first SCIRI member to publicly urge Ibrahim al-Jafari to withdraw his nomination for office.

This mosque is one of the headquarters of the SCIRI and its clerical wing in Baghdad, even that Abdul Aziz al-Hakeem's son Ammar al-Hakkem preaches occasionally in this mosque when sheikh Jalal is not available.

A military confrontation between the Sadr militias and the American (and possibly Iraqi) army is imminent and it's the Sadrists themselves who are pushing in this direction and preparing their forces for a battle they want to have to disrupt the political process and drag Iraq into an irreversible state of civil war.

There are powers in the region that want this to happen, primarily Syria and Iran but I think they realized that a Sadr Vs. US battle is not enough and can only result in a big defeat for Sadr without reaching their desired objective of ruining Iraq.

So, it is logical to think that Iran and Syria would try to drag as many Iraqi parties as possible into this battle and the first candidate they would choose would be the SCIRI, the powerful Shia party that is not getting along well with Sadr and has recently sided with the Kurds, Sunni and secular powers in calling for Jafari to step away and even considering forming a united political front with them.

Another possible theory is that this attack is a warning message to the SCIRI that they must stay friends with Sadr, support Jafari and abort any plan to form a unity government with the Kurds, Sunni and secular parties.

If either theory is correct, the attack is aimed at stopping Iraq from having a government and prolonging the instability for as long as possible.

Let's also take a look at the planning for the attack that is very well studied too, the suicide bombers did not start striking during Friday prayers when the place is usually heavily guarded and security personnel are at high alert but the first strike came more than 15 minutes later when an attack is less expected and after guards felt they accomplished their mission in protecting the worshippers during the main ceremony to be followed by the other two bombings that took advantage of the state of panic created by the first bombing. This in addition to the use of disguise has of course made the breach easier to make.

The attack was no doubt carried out by al-Qaeda but the target was chosen from the powers across the borders.

That being said, you both contribute worthwhile information on the issues in Iraq. So don't throw rotten eggs at me.

When did I ever do such a thing???

THIS is exactly what has me on the verge of just leaving FR. I'm tired of this crap.

I've had more people coming at me aggressively or taking my remarks out of context in the last month than I have in all five years I have been in this forum for merely expressing my opinion.

I call it like I see it. If that offends anybody, too damn bad. I will not be intimidated or treated with disrespect because of it.

More and more good people are leaving this forum. Pretty soon, it'll be nothing but trolls and ignorant n00Bs if sonmething doesn't change soon.

I am at the end of my rope on this kind of crap.

Sadr city is a suburb in Baghdad named after his father (whom he had killed).

Yep, it's in southern Baghdad and we got word a little while ago that there's a BIG demonstration going on there right now.

I imagine it's in response to yesterday's bombing.

Stay tuned...

Don't you dare leave...

I'm just losing patience with the ignorance coupled with arrogance that is so evident in some of these people.

When I log in to check posts in the morning and find my cup runneth over with unprovoked vitriol simply for stating what I see, it makes me wonder if my prespectives wouldn't be better appreciated elsewhere.

Several others (one who is in Iraq and was getting the same frustrations) have already left.

I'm just worn out from fighting trolls. I may as well do battle with windmills.

For what its worth, there are lurkers like me, who watch what certain people say very carfully and appreciate good insight. I read Dog, Cap Huff, Straight Vermonter, Admsmith, Devsix, ASA vet and others here because they have either decent comments to make or experience. Bill Roggio's stuff at the Fourth Rail is another interesting place I frequent.

Ignorant knobs will always be around, but for those of us who know you are in the middle east and look for your thoughts, it is a very useful way to find things out that we would otherwise not learn from the media here in the US.

Personally, I chafe at the people who make a point of pointing out typos, purposely point out how many times the subject has already been posted (they either forgot to look or didn't pursue enough combinations and others get indignant), or expecially those who simply jerk their knees about how wrong you are because they know better.

It's been a while and my latin is rusty, but illigitimi non carborundum.

It is rather nice to communicate with people that may differ on some points but are willing to hear each out, and not insult one another. Often I have been convinced through dialog to alter a position I had maintained.

Allegra. I see the way I wrote to you and jmc1969 may have been taken the wrong way. When I used the term, don't throw rotten eggs at me, it was meant as a joke. As I have communicated with you two and a number of other serious people at this site, often being on the same brain lenghts, so to speak, I felt you would simply take it with a LOL, and say perhaps, hey why don't you send me a cartoon of eggs so I don't have to get powdered eggs.....or something to that effect. I opened that statement with a "kiss and make up" comment within the same frame of mind.
Put it this way. I feel comfortable speaking with you both, and exchanging ideas, known facts, etc.. And certainly you being where your at adds weight to your observations, as well as whom you get to converse with.
In this post, In no way do I want to be considered the type individual you sadly reference that are now permeating this site.
Of course, you have to be the judge of who is disrespecting your opinions. I do hope I have not come across as on who has challenged something you shared, without at least asking why you would posts as you did, as opposed to being what may be considered nasty or disrespectfull.
Turns out, jmc1969 was not brow beating you, for his follow up comments indicated he agreed with what you said, it was more in how each words where used to say encompass the whole scenario. Both being verifably correct, within the context they presented.
So Allegra, to answer your question "When did I ever do such a thing???", I would answer. Never. Not at least to me. Again I trusted the two people I addressed as being quite level headed, your postings bear that out as a fact, I simply perhaps over extended my cozzyness level.
In that I apologize if required to do so.
Besides. We need your onsite observations and experiences to help us get the real news, when we sense the L/MSM are totally misrepresenting a given event/condition.
I do hope you will bear with those that are willing to differ on some points but in principle most often are found to be on the same track. And just ignore those that do not contribute any worth while dialog.
Stay safe and healthy.

YOu are a nice guy to have posted that. The hard part about the written word is that inflection, innuendo, sarcasm and other verbal nuances can easily be missed. I was a nice gesture.

Peace out

No you didn't. Understand that like everyone else, we here have bad days, too. Especially when it ramps up outside.

Yesterday morning, I logged on and found flames coming at me from all directions, most of them sprinkled with unprovoked rudeness and obnoxiousness. There have been some abhorrent personalities infesting these threads lately. I was able to get one particularly reprehensible personal attack removed yesterday that even had veiled physical threats in it.

FR has been a slice of home for me and when you feel one of your support bases turning on you, it's rough. This behavior by some of these trolls has already driven a fellow "FR Iraq Chapter" member away from here and I may join him.

So, you just got caught in the crossfire (hey, it's happened to me a couple of times for real...LOL) and I was in a rotten mood.

You're one of the good guys and my sense of humor is restored. ;-)

"...my sense of humor is restored."
I'm glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. I sensed you where not blasting me directly. To many goons around this site any more. Sites such as this really suffer once they are advertised to much. To many people sign up with bad intentions. Sure makes the job harder for the Admins.
I guess all you can do, is realize your observations are important to a lot of people here. But surely if you find enough is enough, no one can blam you for dropping out of the loop. Your well being and performance on the job are all that should matter to you.
At any rate, hope a few minutes of your time each day can be spent on a quiet green lawn, with some flowering plants, and warm sun, some trees perhaps.
Again, prayerfully hoping you stay safe and sound in body and in spirit.

Wow. Where's that? ;-) Actually, it was a beautiful spring day and I spent some time in the little garden we have here. Granted, the Hesco barriers, T-walls and concertina wire took away from some of the ambience, but the flowers are at their peak and the colors were delightful.

R & R in 23 days. I'm going to make it.

Again.

To hell with the idiot squad. they can wallow in their stupidity for all I care.

Take care and good night!

" Take care and good night!"
And when you read this upon wakening, hope you are refreshed and ready for the days duties. I was aware of the little garden area. You had mentioned it in the past. Time to perhaps reflect, relax, and pray.
Hope the days go fast and your upcoming R&R is just that. With no hassles, bad news, or anything distastfull to have to deal with.
You do have supporters in FR. The rest. Ignore them. It is their loss if they miss out on confirmations you offer on various activities within your sphere of observatition.
