Bye, Bye Hollywood

Last night I did something that I have not done for a long time. I watched the entire Academy Awards show.

Well, not quite, I did miss the “Best Director” award because I had to walk my dog.

Labradors show no interest in awards shows.

The reason I watched it was to see the performance of this year's host, Jon Stewart, a funny man, who's Daily Show has become, for me, a daily show. He was picked for the role because the show producers wanted to attract a younger audience.

But, Hollywood people are not simply liberals. They are VERY IMPORTANT liberals! To hear the claptrap from the Academy's President, Sid Ganis, you would think that every single socially progressive stride in the United States resulted from some film distributed by Hollywood.

Or so they think!

Nice post thanks.

The competition for the limited entertainment dollar has heated up considerably with wide-screen, high definition televisions, cable movie channels, video games and the Internet. Investment in any of these venues provides more convenient and, over time, less costly entertainment value than movie theatres.

When I bought my 55" HDTV last year, the first DVD I popped in was Lawrence of Arabia. After 2 minutes of watching it with the home theater blaring, I decided that I would never step foot in a movie theater again.

"Imagine the vital importance of being a shill for popcorn."

LMAO! That sums up movies and actors in a nutshell!!!

This writer rocks!

I agree. My home theater is so much better than going to the movies and having stupid teens talking on their cells the whole time. Never want to go back again.

Add to that the dumb a@@es that constantly put their feet into the back of my seat, some snot a@@ kid won't stop talking, some stupid mother bringing her wet nurse crying brat and still sits there while the noise totally drowns out the show, ....................

Screw the theater. Popcorn and soda much cheaper at home.

I am very surprised they have not put headphone jacks for the bose headphones at each theater seat. at least it would drown out the popcorn crunching and the cellphones ringing.
My newest beef with theaters is the actual commercials they run before the film. Not an add for the snackbar with that catchy jingle but the actual adds like on TV.
But I guess they help keep the price of the movie, popcorn and soda to a resonable level. (Sarcasm Lamp is Lit)
Also, have you ever tried Tabasco sauce on your popcorn? Once you try it, you will never go back to plain.

And having to wait in line for an hour just so you don't have to sit in the front with the 30 foot screen inches from your face.

And the parking and the mass of people.

And on top of all, most of the movies are really bad.

Later George Looney and other stars were seen grazing at the La Brea Tarpits...

It's been a while since I watched the entire awards show. There used to be a time when I would watch it from start to finish but now I just don't have the patience for it. I pretty much find out what I want to know by watching the news shows the next day
