Do these people have a clue? This DUmmy went to google and saw something that said shotgun stats and went and posted it as evidence that the Cheney's firearm within 20 inches (I kid you NOT!) of the attorney! Turns out it was a roleplaying website and the stats were for their roleplaying armaments!
What a bunch of lunatics!

I thought you were kidding until I checked.. This explains a lot.. I'm sure most are really high school or college kids role playing political activists themselves...

On one of their threads yesterday they believed that the VP of the United States of America would have to dial 911 to get an ambulance to take his friend to the hospital. How old are these people?

At 20 inches this accident would have been a tragedy.

BIG difference between 20 *inches* and 90 *feet*, ain't there? "No Child Left Behind" has missed a few people over there on DU, methinks...

That's from Car Wars. I played a lot of it in college. The ground scale was 1" = 15 feet, so the danger range was 300 feet.

Car Wars no less. I could see it if it was a game by R Talstorian or Leading Edge, those companies did a lot of research into ballistic data and got a lot of interesting data from the FBI on penetrating damage (especially Leading Edge, their damage charts are kind of gruesome). But Steve Jackson is all about game balance and playability.

Lol...one of those DUcks posted a shotgun pellet chart later in that thread to show what pellet sizes looked like.
The chart has 000 buck blown up to about 65 cal.!!
What morons they are.

Actually, what's really funny isn't just citing RPG stats, but citing stats from a product of Steve Jackson Games.
Some RPG's, like their forebearers, board wargames, are designed by people who go to a lot of trouble to provide an accurate model of real-world combat. Steve Jackson's products, on the other hand, are generally whimiscal nonsense--often being parodies of other RPGs, and of gamer behavior (as in the Munchkin series).

How much xp is a 78 year old Lawyer worth, anyway? I figure that Cheney was probably pretty close to leveling, but the quail just weren't getting him there fast enough. Or maybe the lawyer was kill stealing or ninja looting his quail? Not smart on his part, as they were apparently in a PvP zone at the time.

Hey, Freepers got a compliment from the DU (post 31):
Seriously - If theres one thing Freeps know - its weaponry...
They are experts - I always go there for the facts (or at least solid leads) in anything controversial involving guns...
Time for your saving throw...

When wielded by a 10th Level Anti-Palidan like Dick Cheney, that would do x3 damage if he scored a critical!
