Carter was the worst president of the 20th century. He is still causing damage. There is not a hate-America dictator that he does not like.

During a period of unemployment I took a job at a Sam's Club and one day they had a book signing for President Carter. I have never seen a bigger sourpuss before. Hey, being stuck in a drafty Sam's Club is probably a big come down after Air Force One, five start resorts, and having powerful people kowtow to you daily but Jimma looked like a hemmaroid. He looked un-happy, barked at the people with him, and (best of all) the turnout was rather sparse after his initials fans left. He looked furious that people would walk past the little dias set up for him so that they could check out the big screen TVs or the baked goods without even noticing him.

Carter came closer to crafting a mideast peace solution than any other president. Those hopes were dashed when the extremist fundamentalists assassinated Sadat.

I cried that day because I knew it meant there would NEVER be peace in the mideast.

Even Carter was smart enough to know that NO ONE wanted to hear the pathetic excuses of his inept stupidity any longer and delivered his SOTU message in 1981 in a letter and not in a speech.

444 Days of total embarassment led to the burgeoning terror network of 9/11 and emboldened our enemies.

His later years have been spent like a chef trying to convince his patrons that his $hit sandwiches are great.

Jimmy Carter is a true Christian, a real patriot & a great American...

Think I agree with posts #3 & #4; this does, I think, qualify for the label "Barf Alert" and there ought to be a good supply of barf bags available close at hand. I didn't vote for him the first time but did vote for him the second time (when he lost to Ronald Reagan). That was also the last time I voted for a Democrat. I began to realize that his concern for human rights did not make up for giving the Panama Canal back to a the corrupt drug lord(s) of Panama (and into the eventual control of the Peoples Republic of China). Building houses for Habitat for Humanity is about the right speed for him.

...and the world would be more peaceful and the environment would be healthy....

...and the sun would always shine and puppies and kittens would never grow up or die and I wouldn't be on Prozac or Lithium or Thorazine and my husbands never would have left me and my kids wouldn't hate me....

If we had only elected him to a second term, we'd probably all be driving hybrid and high mileage vehicles and using solar and alternative energy sources and the world would be more peaceful and the environment would be healthy.

Yeah...and IF Teddy Kennedy had gone back and rescued Mary Jo...she would be alive today.

That's a better "what if" in my mind......

Jimmy Carter is a true Christian,

If I thought that were true, I'd start studying the Koran today.

a real patriot

Giving away the Panama Canal was patriotic?

& a great American.

Allowing North Korea to develop their bomb was good for America?

If we had only elected him to a second term, we'd probably all be driving hybrid and high mileage vehicles

True, mule/steam powered vehicles would be high mileage, getting 100 miles/cord.

and using solar and alternative energy sources

Because other sources would be nonexistant.

and the world would be more peaceful

3 billion dead because of the nuclear war he caused would have that effect.

and the environment would be healthy.

I didn't know high background radiation levels would make for a healthy environment.

But he was and is a decent human being.

Wouldn't bother me one bit if he was my next door neighbor.

Have you actually met the man, or are you basing this on what was reported by the MSM?

I have never met him, but I treat anything the MSM says as erroneous unless proven otherwise.

But he (Jimmy Carter) was and is a decent human being.

Actually, I see no evidence whatsoever that Jimmy Carter ever was, or is now, a decent human being.

He gives lip service to Christianity and uses that as a shield. If you look at what he actually DOES, it is vile and even evil. If you look at the impact of what he DOES on Christianity, the effect is to discredit the religion.

You shall know them by their fruit, and his fruit is rotten.

All in all, Jimmy Carter is not just a disgrace to this nation. He is a disgrace to Christianity.

That is the one accomplishment of his presidency - getting Egypt to recognize Isreal as a state. Because of that, Egypt has never been a threat to attack Isreal from west, and it takes much of the arab world out of play (namely Syria) because they can't succeed without a two pronged attack. However, the rest of his presidency, and his post-presidency (besides the Habitat for Humanity) are a g-d d-mned disgrace.

I bet if you could ask Carter he would tell you only Liberals will go to heaven. This man was a disgrace when he was president and is a further disgrace to America now.
As a Christian I can not get the logic of the left. Anyone who supports abortion is a murderer and, I see no way of changing this, to do so one would have to change the Holy Bible.

IMHO the reason Egypt recognized Israel is that they realized that a two prong attack didn't work before and probably never would and Egypt would have recognized them in any event.

I would like to hear an unbiased report on how much work he actually does at Habitat houses and whether any of his work needs to be redone.

They used to say he was a better former president than president. Now, after opening his pie hole, they will have to wait awhile until they can say he makes a better late former president to be correct. Then it will be too late to say something stupid. Me thinks?

I don't think Carter would have kept the status quo with the cold war his second term. I'm sure he would have surrendered.

Jimmy Carter was a pretty bad president.

But he was and is a decent human being.

Wouldn't bother me one bit if he was my next door neighbor.

Was he a bad president? If so, there have been others. Presidents are men. Men make mistakes. Time passes. New Presidents come and go.
Of course, he did make some spectacular decisions. The Panama Canal comes to mind.
Is he a decent human being? Emphatically NO. A decent human being would not cheapen the office he once held so dearly that he longed for another term. He would NOT deliberately set out to demean the sitting President. Especially at this time. He would not join the jackals at the party. He would say nothing. He would sit there and look wise and knowing. But he has no sense of history or of future. Witness today's pathetic performance.
No, Carter is not decent. He isn't even a loyal citizen. He is a failure as an American.
If he were my neighbor, I'd move to a better neighborhood.

Don’t all die just yet... You’ll see; there are but four feelings (the rest is but emotion = thought-/memory-attached-to-feeling. Sometimes leading to sentiment.
Took me a while to (NOT) figure that out. BAD-GLAD-MAD-SAD... who are you, exactly please, and be honest, in the mirror if you will? Show me your real face, leave the act behind.

There are but two states of being: LOVE and FEAR. Any hate/anger/distrust that you sense, also, toward anyone, is all but fear, and is the basis of more fear. As though you got something to loose... We agree it’s a sad day when someone decides to randomly fire a gun at no one in particular, and when people standing ‘round ask why.

What is wrong? Nothing wrong. It just is what is, and by the time you realize that is so you just wake up. While the networks have the latest scoop.

So what about something better, beyond felt pain and agony? What is LOVE?
So many are actually in fear of love, they probably first consider any ‘opposites’ like good & bad. Children’s tale stories, hardfelt perhaps, but they do not make it in the real world. Coming home...
Love is hard, not illusive, real, unbending, does not seek itself.
Right in front of you once you see; love is, just like fear, but love feels so much better.

So, my non-fellow Americans...
Being American is advanced Citizenship, you gotta want it bad/real good, stand up with a clear mind for the land of the brave and the free. Now, THERE’s love! For love is dedicated, ruthlessly spirited, especially when you exercise such notion with humility and a vast level of courage. And please DO not confuse being conservative with ‘Bible-stumping’.
This is precisely howcome the Founders agreed on separation of Religion and Politics, i.e. Church and State...

Actually, I get very conservative and filled with love when it comes to it. I also love a good debate among gentle men and gentle women who, regardless, all have to prove their mettle and stance, on the same basis.
Agreed, that basis may seem olden, but please do not delude thy selve, for the principle never ‘s lost and LOVE (dedication) prevails. America’s come this far.

Harking back does not cut it buddy!

You love your country, the very ‘system’ of how that works, do you not?

Then be so honest. Do you wanna shoot the guy next-door or do you have the inherent GUTS to go out to your neighbor, including the one around the block’s corner, and show him: “Hey bud, I got two kids too, let’s celebrate the Life of us, the Freedom we have, instead of nitpicking on the people that do not immediately serve our persuation, the one’s we do not care to like, or should we re-consider, for they are people too”. From thereon just witness...

SHe’ll be flabbergasted, at first or for sure, then bring onto and tell their face to give you a very understanding smile, or not —but then you already know you’re dealing with a decidedly confused asshole...

Takes courage and humility to extend intent of love. What price to pay to get real success beyond paying your bills. What’s the game to lose?
Exposure, putting yourself out there, VERY conservatively.
Did the Founding Members of the US Congres have similar misgivings? Of course, they were human, like you.

Love and fear are. When you look in the mirror you see them. When you look ‘round you see them, in others too.
What makes you unique is that you are, therefore, cut from the very same cloth, NOT different, just you.
And the next, and the other, and the one across the room, and the one outside, and the one around the corner, and the one beyond. All une-ique, it’s a French word...
‘of-the-One’ -your Power(spiritual)doesn’t lie, your thought creates all things and that Innate Power creates you in that very Image.

The you may be still, regarding yourself as an individual.
HA! In fact you may still consider your self as the very indivi-duality. Again look in the mirror, whence you see
one’s undevided-duality. (trust you know Latin too...)
The duality of LOVE and FEAR (so-called good and bad) enrolled, not as it were, enrolled in one.

YOU. Obviously I’m looking into my own mirror... don’t forget.
Didn’t Jahweh tell Moses, when Moses asked: “Lord, who are you”? (the burning bush), and that Jahweh said:
“I am that I am”.

You know what Moses’ question was about —yes/no?
Well, simply, in those days people’s inquiry as to who you are was about what you DO, like John Carpenter, James Mason -there was a lot about a person you could tell.
And/but Jahweh said: “I AM THAT I AM”, which is well beyond DOing, of course. Don’t consult your local 911 now.

When the saying goes: ‘God created us in His own image’ then look in that mirror for any indivi-duality and une-ique-ness. Then you come ‘home’ as a unique individual.

Then you vote. Maybe you vote for yourself, like you are the very best neighbor on the block. But nobody has to or can ‘sell’ it to ya, by way of politics, and THAT is what you know for sure.

I read a number of oped-stories/comments here.
A ‘sneaky’ suspician tells me that most of those posting on this site are male.

Some of these should have the guts -instead of complaining about someone else- to go out and tell their daughter, wife and/or mother that they migtht actually be a loving man.
For despite their opinion, in these cases decidedly fear-based, they need all the love they can get as to grow up.
(there’s still good hope, don’t worry folks)

Others would possibly muster the level of tough humility that suits a gentleman, and I’m not referring to ‘Gone With the Wind (’39) either. Your opinion’s granted, but that is all there is, just an opinion. You wanna get past that, and turn that 17-18-year old boy into a more persuasive person, the one you’ve all along denied yourself. People ‘round you, especially loved-ones, will recognize that true mettle in you immediately.

Then there are some who are hardened if not stoic ‘tenders... No, not con-tenders, for there doesn’t appear to be anhything co-whatever in their lives. “You don’t really exist” is what you’re saying, and I say you’re full of ballony... (BS) except for the fact that you have never before tasted same on 47th Ave -whatever- in New York. Basically, because you have never ventured out beyond the ‘stall’ of your stance... Is how you’re so f.... blind and full of it.
All the rest of us know what’s it all about. But you soon see that we do not have the temerity to hold it against you.

For we love you too. And I still trust that you can tell that to any next person travelling on the ‘tube’ once you actually get yourself off your hi horse/duffy and git inta Na Yark for sure. Everyone’s so accustomed to hiding, which is precisely what you’ll see.
Not a pretty picture. But please consider anyone there as your neighbor, just like a friend you haven’t met.

As for me, I’m one among you, who plays the same games real well... with one distinction. I trust love over fear, would vote for anyone who steps up to the microphone with sincere concern and purpose of mission. But then I’d know:
I recognize them immediately, I first look in the mirror before I cast any vote. Then I got the real gusto.

There are 43 presidents who have occupied that great White House. Who the heck are you to judge? What a crock of S... If you don’t like one, just stand up and tell the truth.

I actually believe there are still real people, saying real things, to the very core of your system and being.

Conservatively speaking, it’s about time that US People speak.
For their system is entirely about having that Freedom.
The very essence of Love. By the grace of God...

STOP your meandering in the margin... Stop your press. Incase your self cannot be elected, for whatever Good reason, quit yer fidgetting! It’s what the Founding Members of Congres did... Long time ago

Grow up and be a real American!
