The individuals that (hope/pray/desire/fantacize/dream) Condoleeza Rice be appointed in Cheney's vacancy in order she'll have the power of incumbency....IMHO...

None of the lukewarm Republicans who have already campaigned for 08(visited a early primary state)would have a chance in Hades of defeating Rice in a primary.Among the already "announced" 08 candidates Rice would destroy them all.As a committed movement conservative,I see no real significant difference between Rice and Brownback,Santorum,or any other of the lukewarm politicians who think they should be President. The only thing that could defeat Rice in the primary is true Reagan conservatism.

I think Guliani would be a better replacement.

Rice would lose to each and every one. I will now direct your attention to the elephant standing in America's living room:
The majority of folks in the U.S. will not vote a black person to the Presidency.
And Mike Pence isn't going to be in the race, so I will wholeheartedly support conservative George Allen of Virginia.

Is Podhoretz the only one shopping this rumor? I haven't seen it anywhere else.

FYI..take a look at the front page of today's Washington Times...Big pic of Condi..she looks fierce, proud, determined...and tired..you can see the strain in her face..

This started on a super far left blog a few days ago, it had a Condi as VP and Cheney connected to Abramoff angle.
I don't remember which one since it was my first time on that particular blog, and it was a link from a link from a link from a link on instapundit's blogroll. Heh, that's real useful info there.

I disagree completely. It's not skin color that is a turnoff, it's people who constantly play the victim (that is not limited to one race or gender-- see Cindy Sheehan). Americans don't want to elect a person president who does nothing but whine or divide people along racial lines in a game of political opportunism. They seek men or women of action - people who simply 'deal with it'.
In that light, people wouldn't elect a Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, but they would elect a Colin Powell or a Rod Paige.

It does seem wildly implausible.

I agree most Americans wouldn't vote for a Black President, but they are mostly Democrats.I have no use for Allen or Rice. Both are moderates in my book. What has either ever done for the conservative movement?
I wouldn't give up on Mike Pence.I can imagine several scenarios where he will run.We already know he doesn't consider Allen or the rest conservative. If we the people MAKE PEnce run, then he will run.

How about replacing Cheney with Mr. Haney?
To: cchandler
We do not want the far left wing Rudy, who is a gun grabber, for the murder of unborn children and loves queer marriage.

Giuliani may have some ideas that are par for the course in New York but don't go well in Texas. However, he isn't the type who would try to push them on the whole country.
This is a man who totally understands the war on terror and he is tougher than the skin on Molly Ivins' behind. We'd be lucky to have him.

Maybe Chuck Norris will get the nod.
Chuck Norris once shot down a plane by pointing his finger at it and yelling "BANG!"

There are basically 2 types of Americans.
Those that live in large cities and have very little freedom. Most have to depend on the government for transportation, housing, etc. Most have a herd mentality.
Rudy screamed worse than Dean about Florida allowing people to buy guns.
Small city and country people depend much less on government and have much more freedom.
