Thanks Buddy

The thread at your link no longer exists.
The next target will be one we haven't thought of. A suicide bomber wearing the explosives would do relatively little damage (compared to 9/11) it would make Al Qaeda look weak and unable to mount anything significant. The Super Bowl would not make a good target because except by air, no one will get close enough with enough explosives to do any significant damage. There is always that chance we have simply made ourselves too difficult a target for Al Qaeda and they are focusing on softer targets.
Yeah, so when the Hawks win, the MSM will say the Steelers were having a bad day ... sheesh ... when the Steelers almost win, they'll say that the hung in to the bitter end ... fooie ... GO HAWKS!!!
Thribbit!!!!!!

For discussion purposes on this thread - The stadium is not one of those type that sit out in the middle of a parking lot in the suburbs. It is near the center of downtown and it sits in the midst of (feet from) numerous theatres, stores, office buildings and parks which will be used for parties and an "open to the public" (no Super Bowl ticket required) celebration and winter events (ex. snow slide, dogsledding). The celebration has a name. Given the nature of this discussion I truly hesitate to post it, but lets just say you can find more details here:

My previous post should also have noted that the stadium area will be closed to unauthorized vehicle traffic (many streets already are closed). Buses will bring people in from off-site parking areas.

Which thread? I think the one in the original article regarding the video of El Shukrijumah doesn't work. You can find it at http://www.amw.com/fugitives/
Let me know if there was another one that didn't work.
The local Detroit news stations last night all highlighted the security for the Superbowl. They even highlighted preparations at area hospitals in the event of a nuclear attack. They were very careful to downplay the threat (which I think is wise) and be upbeat about the security measures.
As many have already commented on this thread, they don't have to attack the stadium itself. They could attack anywhere but do it during the Superbowl and it would get immediate coverage while so many are tuned in. I don't think this would make them look weak. Do you really?
I'm more encouraged today than a few weeks ago that they will be able to keep a dirty bomb from getting into the area. I pity any plane that accidentally strays into the protected radius. They won't have much time to warn them.
I have been thinking about this and talking with my husband about it, and this is pretty much the conclusion I have reached. They can't hit the superbowl but they will hit somewhere and do it while the country is all in front of the TV so we don't miss it. And ruin the superbowl for most of us as well.
That's if we don't foil or catch them.
I went back and found the one I referred to in my first post, thanks. I assumed it opened directly to the thread.
They have been making threats ever since 9/11 about how they are going to attack us again. In his last message UBL said the reason they hadn't attacked wasn't because of our security measures, but because they needed time to prepare. The fact he has said it was not because of our security measures tells me it was very much because of our security measures. What made 9/11 easy for them was that we were just not paying any attention. Now we are paying a lot of attention and it is significantly harder to pull off a multi personnel, big event. If they simply send one guy in with an explosive vest and he kills 5 or 10 people I think he would look very weak. I mean "is that the best you can do?" In any case, it is not good to assume what terrorists will do and then put all your efforts against that assumption. We could all be surprised.
Did the Muslim population in the area start to grow rapidly before or after 2000?
I'm working at the Superbowl. My background check was done recently. I'm sure anyone targeting the event has performed this intel a long time ago, but I won't go into any details here.

I think, if this Super Bowl has been chosen as a target, with the lead time to get the plan set up and to have terrorists hired who could pass a background test, an attack in Detroit would be hard to stop.
The attack would not have to be nuclear to cause huge damage. If they have 15 guys who are working in various positions at the SB, they could kill groups of 30-40 people all over the stadium at the same time. There will be some bigwigs who could be specifically targetted.
If the plan is to hit the superbowl, it could be done.
Not to mention those who live there in the motor city. Not sure which of these still live there, Aretha Franklin, Bob Seger, Mitch Ryder, Ted Nugent....
