OK, new thread for the next week.
First, a big shout out to the SETI and BOINC members who have added CPUs to the effort. Remember, its Team 36120, NOT Team 0.
Next, congrats to all for bumping our team up to 456 processors and 209 user names. We have a number of new users in the team, with over a dozen folders now from GetLoaded.com all popping onto the hit list this week.
Special mention to Klutz Dohanger, who has quietly volunteered over 100 systems to fold. That is 20% of all of the Free Republic Folders systems actively engaged in research. Klutz is the first to earn 100,000 points.
We now have ten members who have contributed at least 10,000 points each. Malsua, Ken in Texas, Andrewksu, LSimpson and kingu have all reached this milestone, and Uriah will join them next week. Great job!
Even more impressive, our team now boasts 113 members who have folded at least 1,000 points. That is more than the entire number of CPUs folding for our erstwhile left-wing environazi competitors!
Free Republic Folding@Home Stats Page
On the global front, Free Republic Folders is now listed at # 487. We are poised to overtake (today):
MaximumCPU (these guys are serious overclockers)
BadgerBadgerBadger
ECU-SCIS-Cluster (82 CPU cluster in Australia)
BensCustomCases
Greenland HS in Winslow, AR Tech Labs
and the Univ of Stoney Brook Math Club, Stoney Brook NY
As we continue to grow there are a number of milestones coming around the bend:
Top 400 by next Friday
Top 300 by the end of the month
We have 610,000 points so far and have folded over 5,000 WU. We will reach:
750,000 points by Jan 24
1,000,000 points by mid February
Thanks again to all that are helping us advance science and promote the peaceful use of computers.
Extreme Overclockers Stats for Free Republic ^
Yes there are a few background programs, but I use the computer as a server not as my main machine and it gets few hits. FAH usually seems to get about 95% of the cycles if most everything is quiet. I use the computer a max of 4 hours/day (it runs 24/7). Even if I'm playing music on the computer FAH looks like it gets around 40% of the cycles.
I'm looking at the log and it has finished 133 of 400 frames in almost exactly 4 days so it is averaging 83 min/frame.
That can't possibly be right - I have a rather ancient P4 (1.3 GHz) that's currently running a Tinker unit at 14 minutes per frame. No way a 2GHz Athlon should be taking that long - it should be running in the 6-7 minute range at worst. Something's stealing cycles somewhere.
Congrats...your first results have posted to the board! Also welcome to nsa2318.
The 400 frame Tinker units take:
8 mins on my 1.2GHz Athlon 4 Palomino Laptop
15 mins on my 700MHz Athlon K7
32 mins on my 500MHz Pentium 3 Katmai
That is per frame obviously.
Check out who we are gonna pass in about two days! LOL
DUmmie math lesson #1 from the last thread.
They still don't get it.

That sounds about right. I flipped back a bit and found that my music box (700 MHz PIII, whose only job is to serve mp3s to the house and handle print jobs) runs Tinker at around 25 minutes per frame.
Sure they are. My comments from yesterday made their board, TWICE! They think I am losing sleep over it. Bwahahaha....
Come on DUmmies, we are pulling away from y'all like a F-16 from a freight train. You guys get with the program and get some more CPUs on the program. We need some real competition, not to mention more proteins folded.
Congrats, Sunshine!
Just noticed, the next team we're up to pass..
HOTCHICKS folding@home :)
Thanks for the comments. I thought there might be a problem, but wasn't sure. Think I'll try shutting down all the background programs for an hour or two to see what happens.
Do you know what I hate?
A WU is scheduled to finish in middle of the night, but in the morning, the DSL is down and the work unit hasn't been sent home, so after restarting and sending it, there's a wait that seems WAY TOO LONG before the points show up in my tally.
That's happened three times, and the first time, I didn't get the points. Luckily though, this morning, I got the 241 points my gear had spent two days chewing to earn.
If the DUmmies want anything more than polite respect, they've got to recruit more machines. Get off your duff and start recruiting more folders, Lefty!
I'm perfectly content to maintain our pace behind them. -g-
Isn't that the most beautiful part of this !!! RR was a great source of sick humor for them, yet they're fighting to be the #1 donor to help find the cure that killed him. I guess not only do they really deep down like him, but respect him enough to go through a lot of trouble to help him.
THANK YOU DUmmies !!!!
Let's see what it looks like from out in front though.... ;)
