"My own judgment is that - it didn't seem to me, anyway, that it would have been that hard to go and get the warrants. And even in the case of an emergency, you go and do it. The law provides for that. And three days later, you let the court know what you have done, and deal with it that way."
Powell needs to STFU.
Why won't he just go away.
Now don't everyone start jumping on his case. He has a right to his opinion.

How many moles are in our government?
Is this guy even an American? Good grief!
Of course he has a right to his opinion.
Took the words right offa my keyboard.
I would never criticize Powell on his patriotism. On his judgement, yes.
Or gophers? :)
Colin and Jimmi need to retire gracefully.
Apparently he said this to George Stephanopoulos on Tuesday's Nightline.
Sorry, but Nuke terror kind of puts a different perspective on this.
I feel much, much safer that the President takes protecting the country seriously. They can monitor those with terror ties all they want as far as I'm concerned.
It's looking more and more like Powell was tossed out of the WH on his a**, and he's really bitter about it.
Even Jimah supports the spying on international comms. Carter Agrees With Bush Spying
I didn't see the interview. I wish he had kept that to himself until after the 2008 election.
He's more than earned the right to an opinion, you're right, bnelson. His opinions may not always be Bush's opinions, but they're always reasoned, and always said with a great deal of tact, credibility, and ~patriotism~.
Argue the issue. The man's right to speak his own mind is more than earned.
Well, I'll be thankful for General Powell's service in the military and as Secretary of State. As a conservative, General Powell has proven once again why he cannot win any election being a Republican. He may be good as far as the military goes, but he fails as a spokesman for conservatives.
By the time a warrent was issued, our nation could be short one city.
