When Charles Henrickson suggested earlier today that I do a DUmmie FUnnies Year In Review featuring the Best of the DUmmie FUnnies for the past year, my first reaction was one of a weary groan. The reason is that I am filling in on some business for a friend so he can take a vacation this week. Little did I know when I made the committment that I would end up sleep deprived and EXHAUSTED. Thus my hestitation to take up the DUmmie FUnnies Year In Review project.
However, my SECOND thought is that this is a great way to get YOU all to do the work. Yes, it is up to all of YOU to list (with links) your favorite DUFU editions with selected DUmmie quotes. This way all of you can participate. Also I can get some rest until the regular DUFU editions start next Monday.
Pretty good work there OSHA!
So sad (ok, not sad at all) it is pretty accurate.
:)
Great job with the DUmmie FUnnies!
My favorite was the William Pitt Midnight Cowboy outfit thread (before that tool went to support Sheehadi in Crawford, TX)
My second favorite is the flame war over ANSWER after that last flop rally organized by the DUmpsters.
I also find their liberal use of expletives in thread headings and threads quite needless and disgusting. It also proves that DUmmies can't think of single sentence without dropping some F-bombs in them.
IMO, most DUmmies haven't come out of their drug-induced 60s trip.
My favorite to date is:
("Quick! Give me your stereotype of a 'typical Republican.'")
That was just so telling and hilarious, it kept me chuckling all the way to the rifle range.
I failed to list my favorite "passage" from that screed.
"Uneducated. Low-class. Lives in a trailer and watches NASCAR. Never read a book in his life because those are for "librul eletests". Can't find Australia on a map, even when offered a carton of Marlboros to do so. Self-absorbed and full of hate. Superstitious. Intolerant. If lucky, writes and spells like a fourth grader. In short, a knuckle-dragging, mouth-breathing Neanderthal who, despite all evidence to the contrary, believes himself to be the pinnacle of human evolution (except he doesn't believe in evolution because his pastor told him it was the work of Satan and he always agrees with everything his pastor says)."
Heh-heh...
franksolich, with all that has gone on in the last eight months, I don't know if you were able to keep up with being our resident DUFU archivist. I would understand if you weren't. But if you could, I think it would be great if you could give us a list of all the previous DUFUs (or at least all from 2005), i.e., the link and PJ's title of the thread. That would enable us to refresh our memories and go right to a particular DUFU for a quote, a picture, or so on.
Honestly. How can anyone possibly hope to beat THAT one for sheer, clueless self-parody...? :)
And, thirdly, that word "partner" implies that you wouldn't be accepted into the US Armed Forces even if you wanted to join.
Yeah, I caught that "partner" bit also. Unfortunately with the really died in the wool libs, they use that term for opposite sex partners as well (cause some day they may just find out that they really are the same sex, and they wouldn't want to offend them right, HEHE).
And as for you, PJ, have the most blessed of seasons.
Funny you should have that in your tagline. I just heard that song on the radio this afternoon. I told my daughter, "Boy, that really captures the spirit of Christmas, doesn't it?" :-) But it's just a silly novelty song, and that's OK.
The novelty song I want to hear is, "I Yust Go Nuts at Christmas."
The best pop song that really does get Christmas right theologically is, "Mary's Boy Child."
Now Mr. Silverback, I would think you'd like, "Silverback Bells" and "Silverback and Gold."
But I digress. . . .
Have a very Merry Christmas if I don't talk to you again before that. Of course, I know you will because you know the real focus of this celebration.
DUmmie FUnnies 06-27-05 ("How many of us here take antidepressants?")
Effexor here. first i was on paxil but it made me too zombie-like. have been on effexor for about 4.5 years. and we are not weak. i just didn't want to feel that way anymore and decided to do something about it.
[Effexor. Hey, that sounds like a great DUmmie screen name!]
Effexor here, too. Paxil made me hear voices in my head (not the usual ones ) and made me feel very paranoid and think that I was being stalked, but Effexor XR has worked like a charm for me for the last year. No side effects except a little stomach queasiness for the first couple of weeks.
[And I know what those voices said: Bush won! Bush won! Yes, you had to take massive doses of Effexor to get rid of those horrible voices.]
You should hear what the voices in my head are calling you
[DUmmie fool! DUmmie fool!]
I Would Call You Strong. Weak would be not admitting there is a problem or thinking medicine is wrong. Strength comes with facing reality. I am a big advocate of "legal" drugs. If you were a diabetic, you would not hesitate to take your medicine; if you had high blood pressure, you would not hesitate to take your medicine; the same goes for cholesterol. Our mental health is just as important.
[All those antidepressants you are taking DOUBLE the dosage!]
Manic here on Trazadone because everything else makes me to HYPER!!
[What gets you into the Depressive mood? Trazadont?]
I too have a family history of depression. I was diagnosed with a anxiety disorder that bordered on depression (I used to get panic attacks). I've been taking a very low dose of cilexa (sp?) for the past couple of years.
[I bet you swallowed a whole bottle of that stuff on Election Night.]
no stigma here! tom cruise can kiss my lily white ass!
[There would only be a chance for that to happen if you have a litly white MALE ass.]
prozac here, with no apologies. i spent years working out, meditating, eating perfectly, counseling, etc. etc. etc. always on the verge of suicide. i say praise prozac.
[Remember the suicide hotline number: 1-800-BUSH-WON]

LOL!!!! It goes on and on... Liberals on drugs to deal with life. No wonder they think **all** desperately need the government to make it through life!
BTW, notice that January had 33 DUFU editions, which may be the most for any month. Usually we're closer to 20. (I'll bet May had the most posts and views, though, since that was the peak month for AndyScam.)
Today is only December 22. We should let this "Year in Review" thread run till (duh!) the end of the year. I'll try to get the links and titles for all twelve months by then. I need to go through the previous DUFUs anyways, to gather up all my parodies.
Another BTW: We did have one DUFU thread pulled, when the DUmmies were complaining about us getting too "up close and personal" with information about them. Also, PJ, I think you may have had one DUFU that didn't follow your familiar title format, so I may not be able to find it via FR Search.
