What is the psychology of the left?

What is the Psychology of the Left? One possible idea:

For decades our society has been treated to a barrage of gotcha’ journalism; the most successful news organizations have specialized in the genre’ for years. Recently, FOX News has made inroads largely because intelligent viewers decipher quite quickly what is hyperbole, slanted and downright misleading—and have found an outlet that does minimize such twists. I submit the size of the left is in direct proportion to the poorly informed populace by a self-aggrandizing media. Marking the success Watergate provided and a host of scandals since—sixty minutes, nightly news, newspapers with a wide circulation… producers didn’t have to work hard to notice the stories with a bad guy meant ratings. The bad guys had to be the meanies on the right. So, beginning in the sixties with depictions of military officers and business people well insulated from harm doing business—their cartoon like caricatures used generously to form a stereotype, add a few sure enough bad ones for the mix, and soon the media had its bad guys. Too easy. But their agenda left many behind who knew better (reference above). And then there’s abortion, taxes, hiring quotas, devastating jury trial verdicts in civil matters, oil, power companies, financial firms, union propaganda, atheist propaganda, socialist (often disguised) propaganda, PETA, the ACLU, democrats wanting power at any cost, at any exaggeration, using any sort of lie—using slashing tires—and using graveyards to fill out voters rolls like I suspect they’ve always done and you have a left that is as screwed up in terms of knowing reality they’ll never recover. One became cool and was considered informed if he or she bought into this line. If you didn’t you were branded a wing-nut, a repug, a Neanderthal, a racist, a homophobe, and certainly ignorant—maybe because you don’t think it’s a good idea to keep people as household pets with welfare on a plantation, or you happen to believe there is a Christ, or you happen to think abortion is not a good thing for our society to rally behind, or you think freedom and democracy are good things. (Evidence of this can be found by reviewing a random selection of posters at DU). These people are delusional or liars—more likely delusional not of their making. Among the most absurd is the notion the government was behind 9-11. What kind of psychology is this? I submit it is group think after decades of poor media responsiveness and reporting truth. Always finding or inventing a bad guy year after year has had the effect of plugging brains. Now, almost half the country actually believes a democrat when he or she speaks. Somehow or another there are millions of people who like what they hear from these awful people and think they can have it—and it would not be socialism—and it would not cost them anything—and it would not mean a loss of personal freedom. Somehow or another all they desire can be paid for by someone else and it is not fair if that does not happen. And the worse group think idea is the notion that our society should do that in order to be compassionate. The Great Society programs worked great, didn’t they? (No, they didn’t). The left uses the word racist quite easily—it is confounding to understand how since I believe a racist element was and remains buried in the shadows of superficially developed leftist minds against freedom in Viet Nam and presently concerning Iraq. As is true in my experience most often, those who shout the loudest usually have more to hide. I believe some are firmly racist. And the media is made up of the same poorly informed populace who attended schools taught by poorly equipped teachers and is now making a living promulgating more poorly prepared reports to newer poorly developed minds. So, what is the psychology of the left? Maybe we should start with ignorant, dumbed, elitist, shallow, racist, heterophobe, zealot for the mediocre, for the stagnation of people in their lives, for the death of babies forming in the womb before they are born and God forbid, become Republicans, but these would be oversimplifications and perhaps unfair. I’m not sure. Many are intelligent—or certainly have the capacity—but choose not to develop it or use it—it wouldn’t be cool, I suppose. I rather think the psychology of the left may involve on some level the path of least resistance—the path the media birthed for them—where no one could argue with their intentions. Despite the fact their programs do not work, their intentions shield them from criticism and harm. Many feel safer in this house because they know the least likely person to assault them in any way is a conservative Christian. And by being part of them, they figure they’re safe—until the first mugging, figuratively or literally. Others simply say and do what they’re told to do—we can tell these easily because they cannot debate. Some of them express themselves by throwing pies—silly children. Others genuinely believe theirs is the right way to live and be—and if those who do not agree and do not want to support them argue about that, they’re a wing-nut. To them it is perfectly justified to take away from you to take for their own. The psychology is mixed but I believe a common thread unites the left—and that is what they have been fed to us for years by the media and what they have been taught in bad schools. Their minds are underdeveloped as a result of these assaults on critical areas of thinking. When that has occurred to a personality, acting out in various ways, even semi-intelligently ways—is the natural response instinct provides each human being. So, books and articles are written, reports are made, classes are erringly taught and pies are thrown.

Need your ideas on what explains the thinking... I simply cannot understand and want to explore what makes them think the way they do not think. Thank you, Andy

I'll point you to some light reading if you're looking for answers:

Here's an article on the psychology of the left; it's titled, The Battered Left.

Here's an article on the tactics of the liberal media; it's titled, Byline, Ellsworth Toohey.

Here's an article describing the hatemongering and socio-political repression that encapsulates many on the left; it's titled, Liberal Intolerance.
