Now that we have saved Christmas, maybe we could consider working to protect the family or the lives of innocent children. They are at least as important as Christmas

I don't really believe it was ever gone, but I do believe, that with the advent of TV, and other modes of mass communication, the religious aspect of Christmas has diminished.
The more visual we get with our media, the less emphasis there seems to be with religion. Also, I believe retailers, and the wide-open world retail market we have now, is a leading cause for the lack of religion in this holiday.
Remember in the old days when Christmas was back every year?
