Got banned from DU

I like to discuss topics with anyone, whether they are Democrats or Republicans. I don’t really consider myself a Liberal or Conservative, but somewhere in between.

So I subscribed to DU to discuss things with them as well. You need to know all aspect of different people in order to really grasp our society and the way it works.

I entered a discussion forum about the National sales tax on DU.

I disagreed with much of what they were saying and made my points both positive and negative. They are mostly against the idea by the way, but thought I could clear some of their miss-information that many where saying.

I got banned, I guess for not toting the line.

I will give this forum credit where credit is due.

I have disagreed with people on here many times, but have never been banned for not thinking like everyone else.

I will always hold on to my individuality and stand by what I say. I can be wrong sometimes no doubt, and I will admit it when I am. But to be banned for disagreeing over something is beyond my comprehension.

I have my criticism of the web site sometimes but it is far better the DU.

Those questions (and a few more) are what made me realize I was a lot more conservative than I ever thought. I do however have a few Libertarian leanings that prevent me from claiming to be a Republican.

Still, I've managed to get along here for the most part for over 2 years now so maybe the OP can as well.

A moderate position:

Abortion - A woman's choice, inform the parent of a minor

Gun Rights - Some guns should be legal, all should be registered

Military - Support the troops, Impeach Bush

Free Speech - Believe you have right not to be offended

Taxes -- Tax the rich

Homosexuality - Live and let live

Patriotism - may offend others

I could never survive at DU. Every once in a while I get into a heated discussion here and I think I'll get banned, but never do (thankfully).

I got banned from the ABC News boards many years ago for a pretty funny reason in an argument about human cloning.

I believe all labels do is box you into an opinion or other perception of your opinion.

Abortion - people ultimately do have the choose whether they do legally or illegally. I feel there are certain cases where it is warranted, rape victim's, danger to the health of the mother. But not for oh I'm just not ready for a kid yet or I wanted a girl not a boy.

Gun Rights - I think people should be able to have same guns the military have short of maybe a cannon. The right to arms is for the citizenry to protect themselves and not just against a robber.

Military - I was in the military from 1981 to 1988 enough said about that. But I know of some in the military that had little regard for human life.

Free speech - should be able to say what ever you like but expect me to agree.

Taxes - federal income tax is unconstitutional.

Homosexuality - couldn't care less what someone does in the privacy of their home.

Patriotism - thats a more person thing. I would die to keep this country free and safe. But I wouldn't die to keep a corrupt and belligerent government going just because they are American.

I've never been banned at DU. But my visits there are so few and far between that I keep forgetting what name I used... so I rarely post... so I rarely visit....so I forget my ID...so I rarely post...
