I like to discuss topics with anyone, whether they are Democrats or Republicans. I don’t really consider myself a Liberal or Conservative, but somewhere in between.
So I subscribed to DU to discuss things with them as well. You need to know all aspect of different people in order to really grasp our society and the way it works.
I entered a discussion forum about the National sales tax on DU.
I disagreed with much of what they were saying and made my points both positive and negative. They are mostly against the idea by the way, but thought I could clear some of their miss-information that many where saying.
I got banned, I guess for not toting the line.
I will give this forum credit where credit is due.
I have disagreed with people on here many times, but have never been banned for not thinking like everyone else.
I will always hold on to my individuality and stand by what I say. I can be wrong sometimes no doubt, and I will admit it when I am. But to be banned for disagreeing over something is beyond my comprehension.
I have my criticism of the web site sometimes but it is far better the DU.

The libbies only believe in freedom of speech if it matches theirs.
We ban them too, even when they just "want to talk".
well generally the left does not tolerate dissent. This is something i learned living outside the US.
Piece of advice, don't associate or discuss anything with a communist.
They only thing proper to do with them is to bury them. They are already brain dead. Their body is just waiting to catch up.
I moderate is someone without core beliefs!
If, as you say, you don't know if you are a liberal or a conservative I don't think you will find any place comfortable except the middle of the highway. If you are looking for information on which to make up your mind then you are more than welcome here.

Just think, that is all they can do to you. If you were living in one of DU's Communist Utopias (Like the USSR under Stalin or Cuba under Castro) you most like would have been killed for not toeing the line...
I share your frustration. I don't know how to talk to people who acknowledge no point of view but their own, and who silence anyone who tries to have a fact-based discussion with them.
So welcome to FR--the discussions are great here! Plenty of disagreements, but no one has credibility unless he can back his argument with facts, evidence, and logic.
Happens to us all.
BTW, what you failed to do was "toe the line," not tote it. The latter's a lot harder to do. ;)
