Public School Christmas Avoidance Bus Routes
Zarr Chasm Chronical [sic] | 12/7/05 | Keli Kilohana

In an attempt to completely comply with the separation of church and state, some school districts are implementing Christmas Avoidance School Bus Routes--because "children, riding the school bus, are having Christmas crammed down their throats." Especially egregious are those houses of worship with Christmas message signs and Nativity Scenes out front.

School officials believe that a public school bus on a public road must not be used as a religious tool! So, either the windows on the bus must be blackened (the bus would be fitted with a periscope for the driver, of course!); or, more realistically, bus routes must be routed to avoid a Christmas drive-by.

Although the public schools will spare no energy or money in de-Christmasing public schools, rerouting a school bus is not as hard or as expensive as it sounds. For example, examining a local school bus route, school officials have found that by simply going the wrong way down a one way street, through a McDonalds parking lot, down a country lane and then cutting across an open field, a bus route can be easily made Christmas-safe.

School Superintendents believe that implementing this program will save citizens time and money in having to fight the ACLU--not to mention saving our children from the reality of Christmas and religion in our society. Let's do it for the children!

This is a story that made the rounds last Christmas. It is a satire.

It is a satire.

It is astounding that that even needs to be explained.

"It is astounding that that even needs to be explained."

Well, yes, but it's posted in News and not in Political Humor, isn't it?

Satire or not ... gas prices have dropped significantly ... so, all school buses should now take circuitous routes to avoid ... Christmas displays [religion]; hunting supplies & gun stores [guns/violence/militarism]; fast food outlets [obesituy] ... anything else? LOL

Life has become almost too absurd for words when satire sounds so plausible. LOL

and that happens all the time. As testimony, your desire to play moderator. Most people are perceptive enough to recognize humor when they see it.

And Happy Holidays to you! By the way, this is now in Humor, where it belongs, not in News.

I noticed. Does appeasement work? ;-)

Just be nice and don't yell at people.

I said "please."

Free Republic is hard enough to keep track of without silly humor vanities being posted as News. Between that and all the duplicate posts, it takes too long to filter through to the real news.

There's a place on FR for humorous or satirical posts, and News is not it.

Thank you for your attention.
