Press Release
Bush misses another opportunity to nominate a Hispanic to the Supreme Court LULAC organizational leaders to develop Diversity Score Card on Judicial Appointments, questioning Bushs commitment to diversity

Washington, DCThe League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) expressed today its frustration over President Bushs nomination of Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr. to the U.S. Supreme Court. This is the third opportunity Bush has missed to diversify the court by not naming a Hispanic to the seat. It is clear to LULAC officials that Bush has misled the Hispanic community by not keeping his promise of being a Hispanic-friendly president in the courts.
The actions of the Bush Administration unequivocally demonstrate a president with only a political interest in the Hispanic community. During the presidents first term, the numbers of Hispanic appointments rose to 10%. Since then, the numbers have waned. Furthermore, Bush has not moved forward with a comprehensive immigration reform plan and has neglected the opportunity to end the 216-year shut out of Latinos on the Supreme Court a major let down to the Hispanic community.
LULAC will closely research Samuel A. Alitos record and encourage a thorough and vigorous confirmation process. To educate the Latino community, LULAC will develop a Diversity Score Card on Judicial Appointments that will examine Bushs commitment to diversity.

Lulac could be wrong. Maybe Alito has some ancestor that is Hispanic.
Perhaps they would like all future Supreme Court nominees to have a DNA sample taken so they could determine if there was Hispanic blood.
Nah, I guess DNA wouldn't work.
Perhaps a scalp sample?
There must be some way to figure out this racial purity thing. :-(

They should remember what happened to Estrada. Was this group upset then?

But of course. That is all LULAC, LaRAza, etc... are about - ethnicity. That's right; they're bean counters. They want more beans.

He also missed a chance to put a transexual dwarf on the court. Not to mention a quadriplegic lesbian, an Asian-African, and a tri-gender Native American.
Bush just shafts everybody, doesn't he?

...there's just no end to it. Well, perhaps in a 1000 years we will all look like either Tiger Woods or Mariah Carey with DNA from Eskimo to Aborigine running thru our veins so it wont matter then I suppose.

Worst of all, he missed a chance to put me on the court.

And there hasn't been an Evangelical nominated to the court since 1930, and we constitute a far larger percentage of the population than Hispanics.

Hey, Italianos and Latinos are just about the same ethnicity anyhow, so what's the problem?
After all, lots of their words end in vowels, they both have great music, they use lots of tomatos in their cooking and they love to dance.
This Latino association should be happy that the good judge is Italian, not a Liechtensteiner, ach!
