Posted at 09:56 AM ET, 09/22/2005 Sen. Feinstein votes no. Vote Yes: Specter (R) No: Feinstein (D) Sen. Feinstein cast her vote no, saying she did not like Roberts answers to her questions and those of other senators, and particularly as "the only woman on the committee," remains unvconvinced that he will act as Chief Justice to uphold basic rights of all Americans. The committee has taken a break for a floor vote.

Feingold yes.
I'm glad but not terribly surprised. Feingold may be a liberal, but he's not one to charge after lost causes such as opposing this.
Lindsey Graham predicted 69 votes on Hannity yesterday. Said that the special interests are placing enormous pressure on the Dems to vote no.
Feingold is a yes too. Make that 13-5, minimum.
This one is a little surprising, because Russ likes to be out there all by himself most times, but they're both Harvard grads and he probably doesn't want to alienate himself from that *community*.
(Dems are much too hesitant to overturn bad precedent.)
I predicted 70 votes when he was first nominated.
I think the dims realize how stupid they'll look to oppose a person that they admit is the most brilliant guy to ever testify before the judiciary committee.
Hey Russ...........
SSSSSSSShhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuttttttttttttttttttttttt
uuuuuuuuuuuuppppppppppppp!
Good point. If "brilliant" Roberts is kept in the limelight, independent Americans might have time to take a second look at his views on the Constitution.
That could be bad for libs.
Feingold: "When my party retakes the White House..."
LMAO!
Actually Russ makes THE valid point. If the Dems are on the other side of this process one day they want to get their person through.
Lindsey Graham is REALLY impressing me right now.
Me, too.
And now Schumer has burst my bubble...
I really dislike this smarmy jerk.
Schumer accusing the Republicans of trying to Legislate from the bench. wow!
I was agreeing with Schumer. He talked about how a group realised it couldn't get its way through the electoral process, so it tried to take over the courts.
But then he said he was talking about republicans.
Then he went off the deep end, saying that Scalia and Thomas were activist radical judges trying to radically change the country.
School-less Chuck Schumer
Chuck Schumer has said that he might
Approve a justice who's AIR-EE-YOO-DITE*.
There's only one clinker
In this plan of Chuck Stinker --
The candidate mustn't lean right.
*Schumer's preferred mispronunciation of erudite.
Schumer comparing Roberts' testimony during his hearing to the testimony of Thomas.
Scumer just said that Thomas is the most "radical" justice on the Supreme Court.
Has he lost his mind?
I can only hope he's another Thomas
