What better sign that Fox News Channel has arrived than the fact that Shepard Smith was the guest on 'Late Night with David Letterman' last nght, writes Aaron Barnhardt.
'As I said on the radio yesterday, the media world is coming to grips with the fact that Fox News has moved up to the next level of dominance in televised news.'
'It's coverage of the disaster was consistently gripping, even more so as the week went on...CNN and MSNBC were good, but I kept gravitating towards Fox because ironically, I thought I could get less spin and more reportage there.'
He concludes, 'In the coming years I fully expect Rodger Ailes to beef up Fox's global reporting, add some kind of a headline service, acquire better radio assets and make good on his slogan 'The Most Powerful Name In News.'
Tiresome, but becoming truer every day.

They are in NY, and getting popular, so now they report for the other networks, not the people in the heartland.

I doubt that Brit Hume would accept any offer to be a guest on any media outlet.
He's the interviewer, not the interviewee (except when he is an analyst on weekends of Fox).
Shep, on the other hand has first hand experience with the situation in New Orleans so he has factual info to pass on that would interest people.
This is unlike when Tim Russert interviews Brian Williams or something like that where they just give each other their own biased opinions.
I thought Shepard was a liberal? He seems hysterical enough.

The scene of Jerry Rivers rescuing Flora and her dog "dusty"....was priceless. They wound up dragging old dusty....last seen dusty was on his back skidding across the ground.
I just wish FoxNews would tone down their dang banners splattered all over their screen.
Those banners cover up nearly 1/3 of the TV screen real estate, and they serve little purpose.
Put the first half of Britt Hume on a network feed. I'd love to see him go head to heads with the big 3.
Amen to that! Fox is starting to look and sound like CNN these days. I am starting to tune out more and more. If it wasn't from Gibson, Hume and Hannity I'd checkout for good.
This came up on another thread...and most opine that Fox has become MSM. All except Brit Hume.
The last thing we require is for Old Media to validate and recognize our credentials. The only danger now is to make sure FOX and the internet don't turn into old Liberal dinosaurs.
There seems to be a tendency to do that - once success is achieved, people turn soft and want to protect their position by going Leftist. Think "Animal Farm".

Fox is now officially a member of MSM. I check the news stations every hour or so. I used to just leave FOX on almost all day while working, now you get hardly any actual news from them.
Brit Hume is still the man. When Brit points out some left wing tripe he actually presents the data to back it up.
Well. That is ironic. He might as well say goodbye to all his 'friends' right now.

I heard their news people continually ask the same questions as ABC/CBS/CNN/MSNBC. No thought to what was being done but why did it take so long for Bush to help!

The author thinks it's ironic because he has already been spun by the MSM. Why else would he consider it "ironic" that he got more reportage?
This is an acknowledgement of a preconceived notion, and I would expect his favorable comments about fox news will cause him much distress at the next cocktail party.
