First of all I wish to commend Michael Medved who has been very diplomatic in his defence of the Israeli pullout of Gaza. He has, as mentioned on his program Friday, gone against the beliefs of other members of his family and some hard feelings may have resulted. I wish him the best in this matter. The sad fact is that Israel took the high road, but in dealing with a group of people who want to end your very existence on earth, it is only perceived as a stepping stone toward their ultimate goal. While the original wisdom of giving this bit of land "will show the world that Israel is willing to work toward peace" is a noble concept, in reality it will likely turn into a watershed moment that will lead to further terror and bloodshed.
Hamas terrorists have now vowed to drive Israel out of the West Bank and Jerusalem. "Gaza is not Palestine," a masked spokesman for Hamas' armed wing declared, making it clear the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip will not satisfy the fanatical terrorist group. "As for Jerusalem and the West Bank, we will seek to liberate them by resistance just as the Gaza Strip was liberated," said the spokesman. When will it become clear to the world that you can not negotiate with or appease these people. They want Israel wiped off the face of the earth and giving up Gaza was a show of weakness. This move has fueled their cause like nothing else and they are more determined now than ever.
Why does it seem that I'm the only person who can follow this train of events to its inevitable conclusion - Israel wiping Gaza clean as a response to continued attacks?
This move has fueled their cause like nothing else and they are more determined now than ever.
And perhaps as they charge the appearently weak center,
the wings will envelop them to their doom, it's worked before.
Bernard Goldberg should write another book entitled "People Who Are Screwing Up The Entire World For Everyone". The "Palestinians" should be at the top of the list.
By withdrawing from Gaza, it does give the Israelis an easier border to defend.
