Once again, a 'secret' memo has been leaked by the Brits, this one pertains to the decrease in troops in Iraq. As suspected, the liberal media is all over this, portraying the pullout plans as 'another Vietnam' and suggesting that Bush is willing to cut and run to save his political rear end.
I don't understand how so many people can be against the war in Iraq, but somehow are offended when there is talk about us leaving the country. These are the same folks who said that we were 'colonizing' Iraq just to get oil, but when we decide to de-colonize they get upset. It is kinda like Bush is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't.

The problem is that having a timeline gives the enemy a goal. The media just extended the war.
Nothing wrong with having a plan to get out. It would be insane not to have a plan.
That being said, you don't want the plan to be made public - plans change, and the plans shouldn't be publicized until they're final.
Perhaps the plan is not to leave Iraq. Perhaps the plan all along was to maintain large quantities of heavy American armor in the middle of the ME...I mean...we are at war and all, and having such resources in the enemies back yard is pretty comforting to me.
"Perhaps the plan is not to leave Iraq."
We are only in Iraq because their democratically elected government has asked us to PLEASE stay until the Iraqi armed forces and security forces are sufficient to show they can handle any super uprisings by themselves. Then we start to pull out. Perhaps most of our troops will be out of Iraq within a year or so. We probably will keep a small footprint in the way of SF, some airforce units for instance to further get their airforce along, navy to further build their new coast guard as required, and spook shops. There was never the intention for us to stay any longer then deemed neccessary. Remember we want to project the image we came, we freed you, we helped you, and we would like to do business with you now that you are a good neighbor. Believe me, once they start pumping a few million barrels a day of oil, start refining many petrochemicals, and oil fractions, lubricants etc., we would hope to see a lowering of world oil prices. And of course with spook shops there, we are geographically located in the center of the ME. We then have Iraq, Kuwait, and the UAE, on or side.
