Sorry. My error. The sharp Criticisms by Gonzales (and the majority in at least one case) were of fellow Texas Supreme Court jurist, Priscilla Owen (who was of course on the CA Supreme Court, was she not?).

The confusion and error came because Gonzales criticisms of Owen WERE ALSO on the same site as several quotes featuring sharp criticisms of Janice Rogers Brown, as well.

Your source is the 'people for the American way'? I would not believe them if their brains came notarized.

Well I would have to study those cases to see the particulars. But guess what? Why bother. Gonzales hasn't even been nominated yet. There are also plenty of other issues besides this one to look at. Sorry.

Not good news, especially if he is the SC nominee.

Mine is NOT a racist objection as you slanderously imply.

Gonzoles' weakness in his record in (NOT) defending Private Property Rights are the sacred Consititutional principle involved, NOT the candidate's ethnicity,as your sarcastic comment implies!!! (I am reporting you for abuse, BTW.)

You may want to take the time to actually read some of the substantive basis fo my post at:

http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=1726

I am presenting some policy and jurisprudential arguments that have nothing to do with ethnicity. If you think I am making a racist or ethnic slur you had better adrress JIMRob who can have me banned.

Agreed. You are very perceptive! the Takings Clause of the 5th Amendment has enough enemies on the USSC already!

You are overreacting as this thread indicates -- people tend to make a lot of mistakes and ping themselves way too much.

Then someone joins in with the La Raza comment which is just not true.

Credibility comes into question because the source you are using -- wouldn't believe those people if they told me the sky was blue.

Think you should settle down instead of getting all worked up about something that has not happened.

Thanks for the insight. If Gonzales is also weak on the Second Amendment, then THAT needs to be broadcast wide and loud!

I hope & pray as much. I think GWB is good for his word. he has taken a lot of heat on a lot of things, so I appreciate your having quoted the President on this matter.

Gonzales is undoubtedly in the position where he can do the most good for the country and the President alerady, as Atty. General. I don't disparage his character, I just think he'd likely be another swing Justice at best, who'd render a number of non-originalist, Activist, non-coservative opinions on the USSC.
