Senator Durbin, what if....?

Reader Scott Wright raises an excellent point regarding Senator Durbin's comments:

Senator Durbin's comments comparing mistreatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay by U.S. military interrogators to that of Nazis are particularly ironic considering the fact that most of the allegations of mistreatment seem to be in regard to "Prisoner 063", Mohammed al-Qahtani otherwise known as "the 20th hijacker".

As most Americans already know, Mr. al-Qahtani had planned to be onboard United Airlines flight 93, which is believed to have been headed for the Capitol building before the four hijackers on board were overpowered by passengers. If Mr. al-Qahtani had been on board that day as a fifth hijacker, the passengers might well have failed to bring down the flight short of its intended target.

So the prisoner whose well-being Senator Durbin is so concerned about would have killed the senator and thousands of his colleagues inside the capital if he had not been prevented from entering the country by alert immigration officials. Osama bin Laden might have had second thoughts about targeting the capital if he knew he had friends like Senator Durbin there.

Ya know, I was thinking the same thing in the shower this morning. I couldn't help but think of the irony that, had the hijackers not been overpowered that fateful day, we may well have been spared the last four years of rants from the likes of him, Boxer, Hi-liar-y and their ilk.

Makes me wonder if I'm glad the 4th plane never reached its target or not...!

Dick Durbin is finally showing most of America why I have been calling him Dick the D___head Durbin for years. I hope the people of Illinois get rid of this ahole next election. I don't care if it is another rat. Anyone has to have more class than Durbin.

I think the more appropriate question would have been: "Senator Durbin, what would YOU have done if you were on Flight 93?"

Would he have considered doing ANYTHING that would interfere with the hijackers' rights? Would he have taken any action, or just use his "Eddy Haskell" act and try to reason with the hijackers? Heaven forbid he would have done anything "violent", noble, or anything involving self-sacrifice.

Knowing that the false Newsweek story about Gitmo enemy combatant (Koran) treatment incited homicidal rages within the Muslim community, Durbin,Leahy,Feinstein et al are making false and misleading statements about Gitmo for what reason?

One could make the argument that they are "bloodthirsty" attempting to create additional Muslim on Muslim homicidal riots.

While I am being "tongue in cheek", I would love to watch the squirming and discomfort related to their answering the "Blood Lust" observation.

Washington State re-elected Patty Murray after the moronic (and untrue!) statements she made about how wonderful Al Qaeda and Bin Laden were. Wouldn't be surprised if Dickhead Durbin survives this.

The only way to get him out is with a relentless drumbeat of criticism from conservative, in his own state. Get him to admit he was wrong, and then use his own admission, or determined lack of admission, as fodder during the next election that he is unpatriotic.
