Do Changes really Affect your Health?
Just Me - Everday ^ | May, 2005 | Just Kimberly

( Entry to my blog today - the following sentence is NOT, of course - why FReepers was created - Just to clarify before we begin...)

Recently, as you can see, I have come back to the reason this journal was created in the first place. To discuss MY life and things that affect it - and how my experiences can help you.

This includes Fibromyalgia, baggage from childhood, and poor choices made as an adult.

If you have visited this journal before, You know my Big 3 - Politics, Religion, and Nutrition. One Change I am making right this moment is moving from the word 'religion' to 'Faith'. That is truly what it is about, anyway.

All of these things I care so deeply about are related in one way or the other. If you think about it, how can you have Faith, and put it to work in your life as a Christian if you do not accept responsibility in YOUR corner of the world for Nutrition and Politics? (Okay, she has truly lost it this time...Nope, bear with me...)

For instance, when you become a Christian, it is through an act of Faith that you believe Jesus died on the Cross for YOU. He took all the sins of the world, yours and mine included, and gave His life so that we might live.

Now, put that in perspective with the other two of my "Big 3".

When you find Faith, your eyes are opened, and you begin to see things you did not realize before. In the case for Nutrition, you begin to realize that your body is a temple, and it must be filled with all of the micronutritents it needs in order to function properly. Without them, nothing works properly - including the brain - which leads us back to Faith. Is it not with your brain that you begin to THINK about what is important in your life?

Now, in the arena of Politics, how is it possible to be a Christian, claiming Faith and belief in the Word of God, yet sitting back in your 'safe zone' bubble - thinking Washington D.C. has no DIRECT effect on YOUR life?

Looking at it from that point of view, it doesn't quite fit, does it?

Are you beginning to ask yourself - 'What is this nutty chick leading up too and why am I still reading this?'

Because something piqued your interest. Why?....because your brain is functioning and your mind is beginning to see the relevance .

All facets of the Big 3 fit together like a puzzle.

One cannot be possible without the other. Without Faith, and understanding what is expected of you as a Christian, why would you care about what goes on in D.C.?

Without Nutrition, fueling the cells in your body and forcing your involuntary functions to work, how could you understand what your body is lacking and why - especially if you have become incapacitated in some way due to poor upkeep of your'temple'?

Without knowledge of the political system, knowing how decisions are made by Congress ON OUR BEHALF, how would you know what is happening that will soon change YOUR 'safe zone'?

ALL ARE RELATIVE TO THE OTHER.

I bring this up today to begin a study in 'Changes'.

Very few people like change. They find a comfortable spot, wiggle down into it, pull the lid over top them, and believe they are safe. I know many people who fit that bill.

The 'Baby Boomer' generation had an abundance of factory jobs to choose from. Once upon a time, the big companies were actively hiring - and 'careers' at General Electric, L&N Railroad, International Harvester and Naval Ordinance (all BIG companies based in Kentucky) assured to carry a generation through their lives to retirement. What happened?

Change.

Change is the only thing in THIS EARTHLY life we are assured of. It is a guarantee that ALL things will change eventually - nothing stays the same.

Kids grow up, people come and go, the economy flucutates, and health deteriorates.

Why then, does the human mind have such a hard time accepting this as fact - when it has been PROVEN time after time after time? Are we hoping for a miracle? That suddenly the world will stop changing - or better still, revert back to the 'good 'ole days'? That is a wonderful thought, but realistically, it is very unlikely to happen.

Yes, leg warmers and Bell Bottoms DID make a comeback - but the rest is not as simple as the world of Fashion.

This is the point to the ramblings of this Fibromite - if we do not accept change, embrace it, and learn to change with it - then we become stagnate. Stagnation means 'no movement'. 'No growth'. Anybody out there familiar with 'the dog days of summer'? Anybody remember how in late July and on through August you could not go swimming at the creek or in the pond because it was covered with green yucky stuff on top? Because there was no movement, the water could not continue to flow clean and clear.

How does that apply to your life?

Are you flowing freely, with Faith - embracing change and looking to the future? Or are you still in what you think is your 'safe zone' - unknowingly covered with the green yucky stuff of stagnation?

In thinking about Fibromyalgia and chronic pain - Faith plays a major role. Faith and belief play a MAJOR role in all diseases, actually - and the medical community is just now - in 2005 - barely beginning to understand that. It is impossible to treat a symptom of a disease and expect to reach the underlying cause of the symptom. Can't be done. Sure, you can take an anti-biotic, put topical cream on it or a bandaid - BUT WHAT HAVE YOU TRULY DONE? Covered it up - so that when the tiny 'symptom' goes away - the original condition remains and eventually the symptom comes back.

Faith, Politics, and Nutrition. The Big 3 things in this earthly realm that are so related - it is sometimes impossible to see the connection.

Stagnation and Change. The two things in this earthly realm that are assured to happen - depending on where your choices lead you.

Big changes are happening in my life RIGHT THIS MOMENT that I could have avoided - had I seen the pieces of the puzzle, understood how they fit, and made the choice to avoid Stagnation MANY years ago. Because I did not, I must now face the ramifications of walking through my earlier life with blinders on.

I cannot blame my parents (some will argue that point). I cannot blame God (some will argue that point, too - but God is the GOOD that comes from the BAD when we mess up, realize it, and come back into His Will). I can only look at myself and question WHY it took me SO LONG to realize I was the only one who could make the WISE choices, instead of 'choosing not to choose' and allowing things to land where they may.

Yes, change affects your Health. Change affects your finances. Change affects all that eats, lives, breathes, crawls, and sits upon this earth. Do you believe it is time to examine yourself - and see what changes you need to make? Or are you happy with your 'safety zone' , full of decisions from your past - and green yucky stagnation? Your choice, your life. Just be prepared to deal with whatever change comes your way.

This was my entry for today - spurred by things I cannot control, and an article I read from a motivational email.

Hopefully - the paragraphs are still intact - as they were when I just previewed it a moment ago! lol! No repeats, please!
