Answer: Jeb Bush sold out for political expediency.

Judge Greer has more power than either of the Bush boys.

Before you make your snide remarks like "these people should be in jail if they are asking Gov. Bush to risk his job" know that some, like Chris Slattery, have lost their jobs over their public advocacy.

Others became priests, a big sacrifice in and of itself.

Joe Scheidler has been sued so many times it's not funny...

These people have sacrificed... so save the snide comments..

He had his moment to be included in the next printing of "Profiles in Courage".

A man of power, prestige and visibility, suddenly pained by a difficult and risky decision that would or could be immensely politically damaging, but nevertheless going with that inner compass, taking 'the road less traveled', and accordingly, being afforded greatness as a true hero once the dust cleared.

Sorry, Florida Governor Jeb Bush was not made of those qualities when he had his moment in history.

I do hope he can sleep at night and live with his decision. Heaven help him. I wish him the best

>"In the end, the governor is faced with this question: Would he prefer to maintain his power as governor at the expense of an innocent woman's life, or is he willing to ascend to the highest level of leadership, integrity and courage by saving Terri's life no matter what the personal consequence?"

Isn't the red stuff
a tame euphemism for
"become dictator?"

If a man becomes
a dictator for reasons
that you like, does that

make it all okay?!
Should Senator Clinton treat
law with the same view?!

Terri Schiavo, an innocent woman being brutally murdered in a manner not witnessed publicly since the Nazis in World War II.

Nice rhetoric. Not factual. What is being done to Terri is done all the time. It is not at all a rare process.

The only reason this has reached public awareness is that part of her family was opposed. Had the family been in agreement, exactly the same thing would have been done eight years ago and nobody would ever have heard of her.

That something is not rare or new doesn't make it right. Quite the opposite, in fact.

The Judge Greer's of the world NEVER back down. Unfortunately, the GOOD guys on our side do. There is no way if I were Governor, I could sit back and allow the starvation and dehydration of a human being to happen, knowing I could do somthing about it even if it meant my job.

I don't know how Governor Bush does it.

Jeb is a coward, and he helped increase the power of the judicial branch even further.

Gov. Bush has done a lot, and it is in very poor taste to criticize him for not taking everything into his own hands. What's happening to Terri via court order is horrible and tragic, but Jeb is the last one we should be criticizing for it.

At the very least, Governor Jeb Bush should respond to Michael Schiavo's explicit public invitation, by showing up unannounced with everyone and everything he needs to make a final and sudden decision on whether he should attempt to save Terri's life right now.

what, exactly, would you all have Gov or Pres Bush do? and how would you have him/them do it? under what authority? and, how long would any such action be in effect before it was overturned, returning Terri to exactly where she is today? this does strike me as placing blame and anger in the wrong direction.

The way I see it, Governor Bush's stance here is akin to a man waking up at night to the sound of a strange person rummaging around in the living room, in the dark. There are two ways a man can respond to such a situation. He can either hold back his fear and get up to investigate, or pull the covers up tighter around his shaking body and try to convince himself that he didn't really hear what he knows he heard.

"We have a bunch of constitutional ignoramuses"

"If a man becomes a dictator for reasons that you like,
does that make it all okay?!"

Blah, blah, blah...

Just come out and say "It's just another innocent life... who cares?" or "It's not an injustice if the law says it's just."

If that was so, there wouldn't be a U.S. Constitution unless someone stood up and broke a "just" law or acted against a "just" decision. There wouldn't be a "governor of Florida" or a "president of the United States of America" or even a "Supreme Court" unless someone had put a foot forward and did what had to be done.. the right thing.

When the "law" of the land loses it focus to protect the innocent lives and the property and rights of those innocent lives that it was created to protect, that "law" serves no purpose short of shoring up the ego of some judge, lawyer, bureaucrat or legislator.

No ego is worth an innocent life.

No career of a judge, lawyer, bureaucrat or legislator is worth the cost of an innocent life.

No law is worth the piece of paper it is written on if the cost is an innocent life.

Or is your true intent that "Terri is just a vegatable and Michael is right" ?  If so, say so.

Our Constitution is about promising the safety and rights of innocent life, for without it, there is no need for a constitution.

Save an innocent life. It's what our Constitution was designed for. It's what leaders are supposed to have guts for.

We are staring right down the barrel of diabolical forces that want nothing less than the destruction of souls. The evil one leading the charge against Terri Schiavo and the “culture of life” is darker and more powerful than most people realize. How do we know? Take note of the almost unexplainable situation we find our beloved nation in today. We are paralyzed. We are incapable of helping the helpless (Schiavo and the unborn) out of fear, pride, and unbelievable confusion. America, the mighty and strong nation, the land of the free and the home of the brave, has met it’s match. An unseen and exceedingly cruel and evil enemy has slithered into our own camp to destroy us from within. We are like a little bird, hypnotized by the dance of the mighty cobra, about to be devoured. Who will break the trance? Let us pray for heroic personalities with wisdom, courage, and strength to wake up America.
