Our friends at Harvard have done another study, and the results are eye-opening to say the least. In 2002, the researchers found that about 50% of the black and hispanic students that should have graduated high school in California didn't. The LA Times headline was "New Study Raises Concerns About `Dropout Factories'". Concern? How about outrage? For anyone who believes that our government controlled monopoly on education is working need to have their head examined. Public education is a massive failure, and by denying the failure, we are dooming our children to poverty, substance abuse and early parenthood. That's because Affirmative action places minority students at a disadvantage. Many are unprepared.

My solution.
Do away with affirmative action. Make it illegal to ask race. And do away with private donations from wealthy parents of students. Do away with class rank because some schools are better and more competitive than others.

Have one standard tests that everyone takes, like the SATS.
College should be free. We are paying for it anyway! We subsidize the university systems tremendously!

This isn't socialism, because the government would not tell any one where they should attend college. Colleges should compete for students. Allow the best and the brightest to move up the ladder. No one should be held from a university because they cannot afford it. The formulas for student assistance are unfair.

Let the best and the brightest shine.
