Richard Clarke came to speak on the Univ. of Ill. campus, and expressed an interest in winning the war by winning the war of ideas.
You can read the Daily Illini pre-coverage here and my news/blog article on the speech itself here.
Thoughts on Clarke? Does he have valid points to bring up? Or an alterior motive?
He was a decent speaker and it was a packed crowd the overflowed into another room where another packed audience watched the lecture on monitors. He took a few jabs here and there (Fox news and Bush's desire to recreate the blackboard of terrorists a la "Battle of Algiers").

that stupid idiot Clarke is greatly responsible for the deaths of 3,000 people.
He and his little gang of kiss-ups didn't do their job well enough to impact the security plans of Clinton's administration, and he certainly didn't do anything to help Condi et al understand what AL Q was planning....

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it Richard Clark that said something
about Condi hadn't ever even heard of Al-Qaeda before? What
a crock!

"waaa...she didn't listen to me! waaaa!"
actually, I thought he was also bummed because she removed him from a head position...
that's grounds for lying, and not bringing terrorists' plans to the attention of a new administration, in his book....
