I am a Christian who believes Terri should be allowed to die... Am I the only one?

First, let me say I am a Christian, and am anti-abortion. I have read quite a bit about the Terri Schiavo case and my heart goes out to her and her family, and yes, even her husband.

I'm quite sure I will take a lot of flak for this opinion, as everyone here seems determined to keep this poor woman alive.

It seems no one is sure whether or not she is in a persistive vegetative state, and doctors on both sides are firm in their convictions.

I only know that if it was me, I would, without a doubt, NOT want to be kept alive this way. Terri doesn't have the capability to state what she wants, but had she been if asked the question when she was healthy, (as her husband states) most likely, she would not want these ongoing court battles, the media circus and the heartbreak for all involved. Really, would any of us want that for our families?

I believe in letting her die with dignity. I do not believe it is murder. I have made sure to tell my family members, if this ever happens to me, do not keep me alive in this state.

May God's will be done.

""The issue is that Terri has not had the opportunity to express her wishes in this. You can't suppose that Terri would want these things if she were alive today. I do not want someone else to guess what I would want. If I haven't said otherwise, please assume that I wish to remain alive.""

Right! In Holland, The Elderly have taken to walking around with papers on them that basically say DO NOT EUTHANIZE. It has gotten so out of hand.

This case will open up the Floodgates.

May God's will be done.

You cannot do the wrong thing in this case and then pretend that the inevitable consequence is "God's will." Pilate tried that dodge.

By that logic the state can order killed kill all the babies, all the paraplegics and all the amputees who can not feed themselves prior to mans intervention.

I was looking for a more commonsense reply - That is simply going off the deep end - Just like Pro-Abortion folks do about women who are raped and the need for abortion on demand because of those cases.

I was looking for a little more levelheadedness than that -

It is widely suspected that the actions of man (her husband) caused the injuries that necessitated the insertion of the feeding tube to begin with.

I don't know enough about Terri's condition to have an opinion on her true condition. I will say this; if I ever get into her present condition as I think it is, I'd want you to shoot me. If that's illegal drug me to death, and if you can't do that drug me to the point where there's no chance that I know how you're killing me.

That's just me. I do have a living will, and I have no interest in being kept alive at someone else's expense if there's no reasonable chance that I'll become productive again. I'm here to help, not be a burden.

1. Did Terri ever state prior to being in this condition what she would have wanted if she were to ever be in this condition? - I don't mean a living will (per say) - just did she ever express her views to her husband

Husband and his relatives say yes. Mom & Dad say no. The judge believed husband, and the court of appeals affirmed. That's why we're where we are.

Can You pull the tube, all of Your own self? Liberalsim swings, if You can delegate the nasty shit, to someone else. Can You walk up beside that bed, and snatch that tube out Yourself?
Whatcha gonna do, GRASSHOPPER, when the doubt begins to eat Your Butt alive?

Right- You know those babies born prematurely who need incubators. We should just let them die.

Go see my post 43 (to this type response).

""Also, don't we judge who lives and dies via the death penalty all the time?""

And abortion.

There is a difference between an innocent brain damaged woman who can't feed herself being Euthanized by removal of a feeding tube AND a Child Molester murderer having a trial, being found guilty and getting Lethal Injection, If you can't see that then you have no conscience.

Thanks for that information (without any tilt being put on it) - Such a terrible situation for all involved. There is no joy for any involved with a case such as this.

Though, if Terri did not want to be left to live like this, I think her wishes should be honored. I would have to believe her husband and other relatives wouldn't just lie about her wishes.....simply to see her die.

Dog Gone, I'm surprised. That's the mark of whether life is valued...productivity? That was the Nazi argument also.

Let's kill all the invalids then.

You got what you deserved, your thought process is flawed.

Answer the implication. Why is it OK to starve one person who needs help feeding while not another? And where does the state get the power to subject any citizen to cruel and unusual punishment?
