First, let me say I am a Christian, and am anti-abortion. I have read quite a bit about the Terri Schiavo case and my heart goes out to her and her family, and yes, even her husband.
I'm quite sure I will take a lot of flak for this opinion, as everyone here seems determined to keep this poor woman alive.
It seems no one is sure whether or not she is in a persistive vegetative state, and doctors on both sides are firm in their convictions.
I only know that if it was me, I would, without a doubt, NOT want to be kept alive this way. Terri doesn't have the capability to state what she wants, but had she been if asked the question when she was healthy, (as her husband states) most likely, she would not want these ongoing court battles, the media circus and the heartbreak for all involved. Really, would any of us want that for our families?
I believe in letting her die with dignity. I do not believe it is murder. I have made sure to tell my family members, if this ever happens to me, do not keep me alive in this state.
May God's will be done.
Trolling? That's a good one. Lose the sanctimony.
I made that clear. Apparently, it wasn't to you. Oh, well.
There is evidence, which has been presented on Greta's show by experts and Dr's have stated, that indicates trauma in her medical records of that night. Trauma a stroke doesn't cause. This could be a motive for Michael not to allow her to have other guardians, to not allow medical treatment, to have total control so there is never a chance for improvement in her condition. Michael was suppose to provide medical treatment, as indicated by his win in court for money given to care for Terri. Care that he never allowed Terri to receive. There are members of the hospital staff that have witnessed questionable care from Michael. Even, medical staff have suspicion of him giving her insulin and she isn't diabetic.
For the past ten years, her parents have been begging for the opportunity to care for their daughter but Michael will not allow it. They would do anything for the opportunity to care for the child they raised and loved from a baby. Her husband, who now has another common law wife with children has a conflict of interest. IF there is any chance, any chance, that Terri will have a positive outcome from treatment her parents would like to provide for her, then it is obvious to let them have an opportunity to provide care for her. Yet, that isn't even a consideration.
My Grandfather had a stroke and was never the same. As a child, when we went to visit, he just sat in a chair or rested in bed. I use to run back and forth from each room and touch his finger. He loved the game and responded with a twinkle in his eyes, smiles and some mumbling. He did not have the quality of life before his stroke but he lived well in his condition. My Grandfather enjoyed the love of his 6 grandchildren. He died in his own time. The thought that someone would even think of starving him is chilling.
A comment while watching a TV show at that age is as legally binding as my comment. This is simply sick.
The parents will care for their daughter. Schiavo has a new family. The solution is obvious and it doesn't include the state oredering the dehydration of a human being who is wanted and loved.

Great post!
Actually, I was watching her parents on tv last night and her dad said that the video that is being shown in 6-7 years old and if anyone could see one of her now, they would see more improvement.
It's rational and prudent..and smacks of being realistic..
How dare you..!!
Interesting point that everyone here misses....you NEED to have a will and a living will. The whole purpose of a living will is to circumvent spectacles like this.
BTW, my wife and I have discussed this very issue, and she knows where I stand. I have never discussed the issue with my parents....
It is people like you that made me put my final wishes in a legal document to protect my wife. If I were in Terris situation, I would not want a feeding tube. I also know my family would put my wife through exactly what Terris parents are putting her husband through today. My family, like many posters on this thread, believes they speak for God and dont care what others wishes are on any subject.
I have been through horrible long drawn out deaths several times with relatives and friends. I saw a friend in Viet Nam with the back top of his head blown off, leaving only the very base stem of the brain. The bullet went through just above and behind his ears. He reacted to stimuli in the hospital just like Terri does now. His doctors recommended letting him die with dignity since there was no hope, but his parents religion got in the way. Their decision was to take him home and pray for miracles. The doctors said the teenager could live for fifty to sixty years on a feeding tube, but he would never re-grow a functioning brain.
I have no problem with rational discussions on any subject. I refuse to discuss anything with someone arrogant enough to speak for God. This is exactly why I normally dont post on these threads. I only posted on this one to lend support to the original poster being unmercifully thrown to the lions by the good christians.
Bye bye now.
She closes her eyes when her priest visits and prays. She opens her eyes when he finishes praying. That tells me she's aware.
Ha ha. You can SAY you are a Christian. You can SAY you believe starving a disabled person is "merciful." You can SAY the "poor woman" would be better off dead. But that does not make it so. Do you believe Jesus would deny Terri food and water until she finally died after 10 or more days of being dehydrated? If you are a Christian, you need to contemplate and pray. If you're not, then you are a liar. Yeah, I took your bait. Mmmmm. It's almost as good as the nourishment flowing through feeding tubes all around the United States, keeping people who can't eat by themselves alive for years and years. Mmmm-good!
Jonah- From the Giver
Everyone here needs to read the Giver from Louis Lowry.

"Get the Newbie!!!"
Just to clarify... she's been here for 2 *years*. And her posting history looks pretty clean. A *lot* of us are "shooting first and aiming later", here.
Thank you for taking the time to notice that.
Absolutely not! You can't place a value on human life like that. How immature and irresponsible to even suggest such a thing.

Thank you, Orecon. I have to say after seeing some of the hateful responses, one which told me to kill myself, others posting silly pictures implying I am a "troll", and yet others painting me as a Nazi, I am embarassed to be a Christian, and a Conservative. If this is what Christians and Conservatives truly are, I do not want to be identified as either.
