George Bush's Resume

A liberal friend of mine sent me the following distortion of Bush's Resume that I found quite repugnant. I took the time to offer my refutation in parentheses.

What caught my eye was this "Articles in the BuzzFlash Contributor section are posted as-is. Given the timeliness of some Contributor articles, BuzzFlash cannot verify or guarantee the accuracy of every word. We strive to correct inaccuracies when they are brought to our attention."

How about if we all copy this "corrected" resume and paste it to the servers at BuzzFlash. Then perhaps we can show them who rules the blogosphere. This is not a malicious attempt to overload someone's servers, just letting them know that such distortions won't be tolerated and that they should scan their content more carefully.

George W. Bush Resume Past work experience: Ran for congress and lost.(uh…..so?) Produced a Hollywood slasher B movie. (……….and your point?) ; Bought an oil company, but couldn't find any oil in Texas, company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock. ; Bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using tax-payer money. Biggest move: Traded Sammy Sosa to the Chicago White Sox. ; With fathers help was elected Governor of Texas.(Ann Richards put up a good fight, though)

Accomplishments: Changed pollution laws for power and oil companies and made Texas the most polluted state in the Union.(California might have soomething to say about that) ; Replaced Los Angeles with Houston as the most smog ridden city in America. (NYC must be REAL CLEAN, then) ; Cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas government to the tune of billions in borrowed money. (record surpassed by Gray Davis of…..California) ; Set record for most executions by any Governor in American history. (and that’s a bad thing?) ; Became president after losing the popular vote by over 500,000 votes, with the help of my fathers appointments to the Supreme Court.(Bill Clinton NEVER got a majority, and we were stuck with him….TWICE) Accomplishments as president: ; Attacked and took over two countries.(The Afgans are now sovereign, as the Iraqis will soon be) ; Spent the surplus and bankrupted the treasury.(The surplus was only on paper, just like the SS Trust Fund) ; Shattered record for biggest annual deficit in history. (Not for long…) ; Set economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12 month period. (I filed bankruptcy during the Clinton years, but it wasn’t the President’s fault.) ; Set all-time record for biggest drop in the history of the stock market.(Did you miss a little event called 9/11?) ; First president in decades to execute a federal prisoner.(again…when did that become a BAD thing?) ; First president in US history to enter office with a criminal record.(Of course, he followed the first President to commit a felony WHILE IN OFFICE) ; First year in office set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in US history.(…..so?) ; After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, presided over the worst security failure in US history.(Clinton was offered Bin Laden THREE TIMES, but he was too busy with a certain intern scandal) ; Set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips than any other president in US history. (and whose record did he beat…….hmmmm?) ; In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their job. (and he has created 2.2 million NEW JOBS since then) ; Cut unemployment benefits for more out of work Americans than any president in US history.(no, it’s a reduction in the increase) ; Set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12 month period. (but new housing starts are at a 5 year high….) ; Appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in US history.(his predecessor PARDONED the most criminals of any president in US history) ; Set the record for the least amount of press conferences than any president since the advent of television. (again……..that’s a bad thing?) ; Signed more laws and executive orders circumventing the Constitution than any president in US history. (I guess that depends on your definition of “is”) ; Presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and refused to intervene when corruption was revealed. (You were in diapers during the Oil Embargo of ’73, right?) ; Presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have. (Actually, if adjusted for inflation, gas prices were higher during the CARTER years) ; Cut healthcare benefits for war veterans. (no, it’s a reduction in the increase) ; Set the all-time record for most people worldwide to simultaneously take to the streets to protest me (15 million people), shattering the record for protest against any person in the history of mankind. (http://www.hyperreal.org/~dana/marches/) ; Was elected to office by the BIGGEST MARGIN OF VICTORY IN US HISTORY ; Received MORE VOTES THAN ANY PRESIDENT IN US HISTORY ; Dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history.(Our first President advised us against “entangling alliances”. Who needs Kyoto anyway?) ; My presidency is the most secretive and un-accountable of any in US history. (you were in diapers during Watergate, right?) ; Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. (the 'poorest' multi-millionaire, Condoleezza Rice has an Chevron oil tanker named after her). (……..and your point?) ; Had more states to simultaneously go bankrupt than any president in the history of the United States. (State finances are the responsibility of …..the STATE GOVERNORS) ; Presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud of any market in any country in the history of the world. (AND HAS BROUGHT THE STRICTEST ACCOUNABILITY MEASURES AS A RESULT) ; Created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States. (In response to 9/11) ; Set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any president in US history. (and whose record did he beat……hmmm?) ; First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the human rights commission. (would you want a seat on that commission next to Saddam’s Iraq?) ; First president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the elections monitoring board. (our democracy outdates the UN) ; Removed more checks and balances, and have the least amount of congressional oversight than any presidential administration in US history. (it’s called removing red tape) ; Rendered the entire United Nations irrelevant. (the UN did a pretty good job on their own, with the Oil-for-Food Scandal and their silence about the Rwanda genocide) ; Withdrew from the World Court of Law. (……and that’s a bad thing?) ; Refused to allow inspectors access to US prisoners of war and by default no longer abide by the Geneva Conventions. (If you’re referring to Gitmo, the prisoners there do not fall under the Geneva Convention) ; First president in US history to refuse United Nations election inspectors (during the 2002 US elections). (……..and that’s a bad thing?) ; All-time US (and world) record holder for most corporate campaign donations. (A record then broken by John F. Kerry) ; My biggest life-time campaign contributor presided over one of the largest corporate bankruptcy frauds in world history (Kenneth Lay, former CEO of Enron Corporation).(Actually George Soros broke that record with his $$$$ for Kerry, and he wants marijuana legalized) ; Spent more money on polls and focus groups than any president in US history. (no, that was Slick Willie) First president in US history to unilaterally attack a sovereign nation against the will of the United Nations and the world community. (After 17 UN resolutions over 10 years, all other options were exhausted) ; First president to run and hide when the US came under attack (and then lied saying the enemy had the code to Air Force 1) (protecting the C-in-C is paramount during war.) ; First US president to establish a secret shadow government. (no, that happened under Eisenhower) ; Took the biggest world sympathy for the US after 911, and in less than a year made the US the most resented country in the world (possibly the biggest diplomatic failure in US and world history). (POSSIBLY…….give me FACTS) ; With a policy of 'dis-engagement' created the most hostile Israeli-Palestine relations in at least 30 years. (Palestine just had their first free elections, with our help) ; Fist US president in history to have a majority of the people of Europe (71%) view my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and stability. (…and we’re supposed to care about foreign polls?) ; First US president in history to have the people of South Korea more threatened by the US than their immediate neighbor, North Korea. (recent news refutes this….) ; Changed US policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded government contracts. ( …atleast he never PARDONED CONVICTED CRIMINALS…..like Clinton) ; Set all-time record for number of administration appointees who violated US law by not selling huge investments in corporations bidding for government contracts. (and your point?) ; Failed to fulfill my pledge to get Osama Bin Laden 'dead or alive'. (Clinton was offered Bin Laden THREE TIMES….or weren’t you listening?) ; Failed to capture the anthrax killer who tried to murder the leaders of our country at the United States Capitol building. After 18 months I have no leads and zero suspects. (That’s what the FBI is for….) ; In the 18 months following the 911 attacks I have successfully prevented any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States. (you were in diapers when the 9/11 Commission issued it’s report, right?) ; Removed more freedoms and civil liberties for Americans than any other president in US history. (name one that effects you personally. It won’t unless….you ARE guilty) ; In a little over two years created the most divided country in decades, possibly the most divided the US has ever been since the civil war. (If the US is so divided, why don’t the Democrats control at least ONE BRANCH OF GOVERNMENT?) ; Entered office with the strongest economy in US history and in less than two years turned every single economic category heading straight down. (Bush didn’t submit a budget until October of 2001, so the crash happened under policies that were put in place by……..Clinton)

Records and References: ; At least one conviction for drunk driving in Maine (Texas driving record has been erased and is not available). ; AWOL from National Guard and Deserted the military during a time of war. (Gee, no evidence has ever come forth, just like John Kerry’s full military record) ; Refuse to take drug test or even answer any questions about drug use. (does “I didn’t inhale” bring back any memories?)
