From whence cometh those fears?
TOPICS: Business/Economy; Religion; Society
KEYWORDS: business; christmas; christnas; commercialization; fear; holiday; meaning; purpose; season; spirit
So busy are we this season that it causes pause to wonder "Why?". There is the busy-ness related to purpose, but this busy-ness is the self justifying sort that is predicated upon itself. Existentially, the season seems to become a busy state because of the season itself, which begs a question: What is the purpose of the busy-ness? I propose that it exists as a defense mechanism from confronting the true meaning of this blessed day. To do so would alter our lives or discount ourselves in the lack thereof. Indeed, to stop and reflect about the incarnation of God upon this eartn, and our response to Him, would be a terrible thing - at least in the fears of our minds. But that begs yet another qustion: From whence cometh those fears?

I have ceased to hold one day above another. Christmas has become as like pagan holiday to me. This may change. Let us not hold the publicized actions of any man as defining of his character. God judges the heart. He whose heart acknowledges Him shall find rest in every day...

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Jesus of Nazareth (about 37 AD), the Man Whose birthday we celebrate this day.
