A federal judge in Washington has upheld the right of the American military to place its personnel under United Nations command and force those soldiers to wear insignia designed by the world body.
The ruling from Judge Paul Friedman came in the case of a former Army specialist, Michael New, who resisted orders that he serve in a U.N. peacekeeping mission in Macedonia nearly a decade ago. He also refused, during unit muster in 1995, to wear the light blue U.N. cap and shoulder patch.
Mr. New was court-martialed for failing to obey the order to don the cap and patch. He was convicted in 1996 and given a "bad conduct" discharge from the Army. Military appeals courts upheld the decision.
In his 35-page decision filed Wednesday, Judge Friedman rejected all

I goofed--the person who wrote the article was JOSH GERSTEIN, not yours truly.
Can this be fixed, please?
I would suffer the same fate as Mr. New, I suspect. .....telling those SOBs where they can stick their powder blue beret and insignia.
But alas, their have neither brains nor balls. ......nor inclination.
The judge should be thrown from the bench for being the traitor that he is. Then summarily shot.
The complaint should be taken up with the ex-Commander in Chief. He's the archtraitor who issued the orders.
We cannot help but note that the Democrats have lost two Presidential elections recently, and no longer control either house of Congress. Maybe "W" could give Michael New a pardon.
Ummmm - that's gotta stop!
Our military should never be asked to serve two masters.

The soldier's website!
Let's do what we can to fix this!
Freep on!
I agree---the best place to start is to get on the White House's case and ask WTF is going on here.
As for Clinton---After all the SOB's that he gave pardons to, you's think that he would have at least TRIED to do the right thing.
'course thats a tall order to ask from the Klintons, isn't it?

Hmmm
it didnt come on on the search
Are you sure you did a search?
Yes, I'm sure
Let's see...The Federal judge said the US Armed Forces had the right to tell their soldiers what to do and that the soldiers had to obey the orders ?
Putting some US Forces under UN command is, I suppose, done with a Presidential order to the Joint Chiefs, who in turn give the necessary orders and instructions to field commanders. Now, I fail to see how this federal ruling is ground-breaking. I can't imagine a US soldier saying "Oh, sorry, but no, I don't like this order you just gave me", now, can I ?
Not only no...but HELL NO!
Actually I do think some soldiers will do so....
For one thing, our oath is to follow our leaders--and not to have them give power over us to a foreign organisation. This cedes US sovereignty over it's trrops/citizens -- a violation of the Constitution.
Especially one that has a hatred of our country and wants to set up a kangaroo court all of its own.
Forgive me---but my trust for France is about ZILTCH
Does that mean that, in case of a Soviet attack in the 1970s, American soldiers would have been able to refuse to obey orders because those didn't come from a purely-US chain of command ?
