>>Good article, but using "hillary" and "brief(s)" in the title clouds my perception with a foul odor.

*chuckle*
Sorry, I never considered a different connotation of the word brief. The title was meant to be a clever reference to The Pelican Brief by John Grisham. I was originally going to call it The Ostrich Brief, as in "one who tries to avoid disagreeable situations by refusing to face them" but The Hillary Brief just sounded better.

With Specter chairing the committee, and the kind of reception that senators give other senators (except of course for Ashcroft,) I am certain that she would get a vote of the whole senate. In a close senate like this one (51-49) you can count all the Rinos (Specter, Snowe, Collins, the Rino from R. I. that I can never remember his name, McCain, Hagel, Graham, etc. and who knows who else on the Republican side that owes her or is afraid of her) to vote with the Democrats and she is at least a shoo in by 55-60 votes. I don't think there is any way she would not be approved whether Republicans or Democrats are in charge.

>>If Kerry is elected, he'll replace McAuliffe...

Yup. The replacing of McAuliffe by Kerry if he wins is originally what led me to realize the Kerry nomination doesn't pass the smell test. This is SOP whenever an incumbent president is replaced. By default, the new president becomes the acting head of his party and soon thereafter replaces the his party's leadership chairman with his own guy. The very fact that the media isn't talking about this (in the hypothetical, of course) is strange to me. McAuliffe and Kerry do not like each other. If he were to win, Kerry would replace McAuliffe in a heartbeat. Hill and Bill do not want this to happen.

No no. This part doesn't ring true. Because it's the truth. Hitlary is uncomfortable with the truth. Lies are far more useful.

Expect a lie, a slanderous lie. One that can easily be disputed, with a few days honest work.

Kerry his advisors won't have the few days, nor the honest work.

The lie will start to stink, a week later, a week too late.

Then Hitlary gets to blame the VRWC for that lie and the dirty politics and stealing another election.

This will serve as another gallon of lighter fluid, to ignite her base in four years, and another smoke bomb, to cover up their vastly dirtier politics.

This is as good a time as any to mention this to all of you- hopefully, the hardware & software upgrades will mitigate the worst problems we had during the 2002 & 2000 elections, but just in case FR slows down too much or drops offline, you will find me here:

Called "our sister site in Canada," FD uses a similar format- you can enable html in the replies- so all the stuff you use here like saved links, can be used.

Our own conniew and EntropySquared run the site- they're good folks.

I neglected to mention that, due to brain locking up during registration long ago ( yes, I'm a Plank Owner at FD ) I'm known as trakhoe... I truly wish I had signed on to every board with my own proper name and let the chips fall where they may.

I believe Hillery and her people do not want Kerry elected for the reasons you state. Her machine is going to drive for her presidency in 2008. She will do this in any case and the ground work is being laid now.

One particularly gruesome scenario is if Bill realizes his goal and becomes the Secretary General of the UN.

Either way, I believe Hillery will also lose in 2008.

Having said that, I believe that Kerry will lose on November 2nd in any case as well.

HERE's MY PREDICTION - BUSH 320, Kerry 218
