What was once a very good time and a very good place to be, will be again, if only for one night. This night will bring back memories of the best times of our lives when we enjoyed living every day and when we had such strong identity with our beliefs and our friends and family shared that belief and we were rock solid. We were a community that didnt seem to be connected by individuals but bound by the passion and fighting spirit of togetherness and a sense of pride. Those days are gone now, replaced by the complexities of the integration of differences and the understand and respect of those differences as our county and the world moves forward. We know that, and we know its probably best, but it does not diminish the passion we feel in our soul for what was and will never be again. Lets face it, if had a choice we would want what was and the passion we felt for that life. So, have a drink, as we celebrate our 25th High School reunion, and just think for a minute and remember how wonderful life was being poor, black and living with family and friends in the hood.

Do DUers have a drug and alcohol problem?
Welcome to Free Republic.
HUH?
Hint - The comment about "problems" - it works both ways and he had been drinking that night - I think it was said in a different perspective, opposite what was portrayed by the masses and the media - maybe you just have to have been there, culturally, to get it
It's simply a perspective of Lott given the "Who Moved My Cheese" angle relative to the black community. The words are very similar to words said at my High School reunion. A light bulb then went off, and I though it should be said, to ease the pains of change that we all feel.
I see. But I'm not in any pain. No, none at all.
