Sorry...Kerry did win the debate, based upon expectations...many were expecting Bush to deliver a knockout...many expected Kerry to be....well, Kerry.

Bush did fine. Kerry came off pompus. Bush maintains his lead in the polls.

I think that Kerry won on debating points, but Bush had more memorable lines, such as asking Kerry if our allies would send troops to the wrong war at the wrong place at the wrong time. The Weekly Standard has an official debate scorecard (http://www.weeklystandard.com) and put it at a 9-9 draw.

The substance that shakes out in the next few days is what will matter. Kerry lied, misled and his policies are wrong. Lehrer was a horrible moderator who didn't ask any tough questions of Kerry on his Senate record. Those are the stories and that is the message. Bush didn't deliver a knockout tonight, but Kerry did nothing to reverse his fortune. In fact, he may have given Bush, Rove and Cheney enough rope to hang him with.

Rush nailed it early. The MSM is playing right into it. Kerry won the polls are closing blahaaaa. Nobody will remember weeks to come. When you lie you do not have to pause. When you have BOTOX you have no facial expressions.

>>Kerry's inabilty to look into the camera<<

This is why I think those that actually watched the debate (maybe 50 people not counting the media and those of us here on FR) will think that Bush did well and Kerry didn't.

If they can't see your eyes, they don't trust you.

The post debate debate lasts for 48 to 72 hours. Don't declare a winner yet.

The partisan media would have come out for Kerry even if he fell short. Let's face it, they're in the tank for Kerry and want to see him win. They just have a bad candidate who keeps saying stupid things and is plain unlikeable. President Bush WILL be re-elected. Trust me, in the cold of light of day, after the glow of the evening's warmth has faded, they will not be happy campers.

Kerry did win the debate. The only way he lost it is if someone were to actually examine the substance of what he said and realize it's pure crap. That will happen eventually, but right now the focus is on style and polish and Kerry won that hands down.

He actually did win the debate. Before he lost it.

No matter what had happened tonight the media would have declared Kerry the clear winner. This is no surprise at all.

I think the problem is on the surface Kerry won. I had several friends tell me this. They are just voters, interested but voters.

Once you get past that, you realize that Kerry told a whole slew of whoppers and made some serious gaffes.

What looked good tonight isn't going to look good come Monday.

I had to work at The Great State Fair of Texas tonight, so I avoided the debate. I wanted to have a fresh start after the facts.

My after-action report tells me that:

1. My daughter told me the President goofed once or twice by not answering quickly. How orange is that?

2. I have read in more than one place that Horse-Face probably had the questions ahead of time. This would not surprise me considering what we and the planet Saturn now know about the Mean Street Media and their (wink-wink) love for the most disgusting democrat candidate since George McSocialist in 1972.

3. The usual media have their pom-poms out way before the debate is even a part of history. Kerrrrry could have stood there and drooled and mutterrrred " buuuush Lieeed" and John The Poodle would still be the quarterback on the players shoulders as he is carried off the field.

4. John Kerry is as sad today as he was yesterday. Absent Senator Kerry's life will have to end just as empty as he has lived it. He and Al Gore can start a support group. Maybe they will get so unbelievable drunk, they can have a three-way with Ann (please iron my face) Richards.
