I'm headed out the door very soon to attend a birthday party today for the young daughter of a dear friend of mine. There will be a bouncy-house for the kids, a cake, tons of presents, balloons and squads of happy children.
"Big deal timpad, so what?" Well, just so happens that this little girl's birthday is actually today. Yes FRiends, her birthday is September 11th. She turned 2 years old the day her nation was attacked.
Hold that thought. Are you thinking something to the effect of, "Gee, how terrible that her birthday will always fall on such a day!" If so, you're just like I was. Your just like her father was. But I've had a different thought today, and I wanted to share it with you.
I want to share with you that today, that little 5-year old girl is adorable, precocious, well-loved, well-educated and happy. She will grow into a fine young woman, nurtured by a family and a nation which loves her and respects her. Her future is open to her ambition and ability.
3 years after Islam hit us so hard and took from us so much, she lives on. She lives on in stark contrast to the five-year old girls under the domination of Islam. Those girls will grow into a society that views them as property. A society where their rights, wishes, dreams and ideals will always be subordinate to those of the males around her. A society that will one day attempt to encourage them to strap bombs to their chests so they may blow up Russian schoolgirls.
It has become abundantly clear that the only hope these Islamic girls have of ever glimpsing that better future promised to our girl lies with the United States and her allies. We are engaged in an effort to rid the world of the oppressive forces crushing those other young lives. We have made mistakes in this effort . We will make more. We have paid for those mistakes with the sacrifice of our best and bravest. But we live on. We move on. With God's help, we will prevail and lift the darkness from the lives of so many little ones.
So, Happy Birthday little girl. And may the day of your birth remind you forever not of tragedy, but of the strength, courage, sacrifice and eternal, bedrock goodness of the nation you were blessed to know.
Wonderful post! I join in the happy b'day wishes!
