After the documents were released by CBS, the Bush administration distributed them to reporters without comment.
Why would they do such a thing? Why would they further disseminate documents to the Washington press corps that are critical of President Bush, especially when the documents are readily available on the internet?
The answer is simple: The White House's internal analysis revealed that the documents were forgeries. They wanted the word to get out, but a claim of forgery would make them look like crybabies and conspiracy theorists. Instead, they simply distributed the memos without comment, knowing that someone would realize they were forgeries and run with the story.
Yet, more evidence these clowns can't be in charge of national security and intelligence. Can you imagine them successfullly pulling off a covert mission?
Brilliant if you ask me.
I love the counter-intuitive thinking. That was my first "take" on this as well. That is, that the WH released these documents knowing full well that they were forgeries. Verrry interesting-- I am on tenterhooks waiting to see how this unravels for the Demos-- I would not be surprised to see the name of a certain SF based opposition researcher for Kerry emerge.
It reminds me of the incident in Florida in 2000 with the party workers. Very dirty work.
Great point. I wouldn't trust them to walk my dog.
Has anyone verified that Terry McAuliffe (or anyone else at the DNC) really made the statement that "Rove set us up".
If this is true, then to me, this is the most damning thing to the Kerry Campaign. It shows coordinated DNC-media mud-slinging. The DNC has repeatedly accused the Bush campaign of doing this type of thing. It's truly amazing that anyone besides a total moron would believe a statement from the DNC.
